You might want to try out windows phone 8. It integrates very well with windows desktop. Windows 8.1 is easy to use. If you prefer windows 7, just install FREE windows classic shell. Voila - windows 7 UI!

I installed Classic Shell. Think about the implications of that step.
As for Win Phone, I am sure stabbing knitting needles in one’s eyes works for some.
