First lady Michelle Obama had all eyes on her Sunday during the Kennedy Center Honors where the achievements of singer Billy Joel, actress Shirley MacLaine and others were acknowledged.
The first lady manages to look absolutely stunning in pieces by J. Crew, so it was no surprise that she looked flawless in a flowing emerald green Marchesa gown.
While the bodice of the dress is similar to gowns she has worn in the past, the intricate draping details on her arms gave it an elegant flair. The arm drape also showed off the first ladys exceptionally toned biceps as she held hands with President Barack Obama.
The first lady kept the accessories to a minimum, which was a wise fashion choice considering the dress was a stand-out all on its own.
As for her hair, the first lady sported large face-framing curls and allowed her simple neckwear to shine.

I have to admit it looks good on her. It hides her fat booty and the wig looks nice too.
Marchesa gown=another name for lipstick
“Why cant her dresses ever look normal, instead of gimmicky?”
She just can’t wear clothes well and she should stick to classic designs and take a more conservative approach. She’s very tall and seems awkward in photos, which may be because she is doing that tall girl slouch at the hips thing.
Plus she does have some weird tastes, she loves those wide, waist strangling belts. I’ve said this before here, but at the risk of repeating myself, my mother loved those awful things too. Now my mother was a very beautiful woman and the belts looked better on her than on Michele, but not by much. Me, I hate belts and I’ve always hated those.
I feel bad, slightly, for Michele Obama, the adoring media keeps wanting her to be the next Jackie Kennedy (who did have a bit of that French flair after all) and she’s just not cut out for the job. And my guess is this is probably a long standing issue for her, since her husband wears clothes beautifully. I honestly wish Obama had become a fashion model, he could have been a superstar instead of a destroyer of nations.
BTW, to me the dress looked more teal than emerald green, but it’s hard to tell on the computer.
I just love getting a chance to talk fashion on FR!
I think the dress is quite lovely. I like the color and think it suits her. Her hair is a hot mess, though.
STEALING is what she is all about..
You nailed it on the Jackie part.
Part of her fashion problem is being married to a gay man (well, okay... a highly effeminate metrosexual, at least.)
Yes, it’s an error to marry a man better looking than yourself. And in his case, far vainer.

Same here. Infrequent threads about fashion or male eye candy often get a lot of posts, thanks to female Freepers who are eager to discuss.

When the hell is this clown Presidenting?
darling...that hair is a W I G...YOU DO NOT SEE MICHELLE OBAMA WEARING HER OWN NATURAL HAIR...sometime the hairline is use to cover for the wig...but those fake glowing locks are bought and paid for. they do not grow from her scalp..
she has very nappy hair as does her younger daughter, the older daughter, has chemically straightened hair...neither daughter have healthy looking hair...
LOL, I know I tried to find others ways to say it, but couldn’t do it.
It’s very hard to pull off trendy. I guess that’s why those things remain “trends”.
The hot item a year or two ago was the cropped jacket, a really short jacket, stopping well short of the waist.
I saw one that year that looked good, on a gal in the elevator in my office building. She was very skinny, very long waisted, it was a nice looking jacket, and on her it looked like a million bucks. All the others I saw looked ridiculous.
