Elton John's tour of Russia on verge of collapse after singer makes 50 pages of demands

Elton John is due to perform in Russia this Friday and Saturday – but the concerts could be called off by local officials if they believe his performances will break their ‘gay propaganda’ laws.

Despite Sir Elton being one of the most famous performers in the world, having sold more than 250 million records worldwide, if officials suspect he’s going to use his appearances to rail against Russia’s new rulings, they will pull the plug, according to The Times.

Quoting Russian paper Your Day, it reports that preparations for the concerts – in Moscow's Crocus City Hall and Kazan - have already been a considerable expense.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is still one of the best rock n' roll double albums, ever.

The tour promoters generally secure insurance in case something happens..star becomes ill, political upheaval, weather...however, in this case, I suspect the carriers won’t pay up..because EJ would have caused the cancellation by his actions. And EJ would thus me on the hook for a lot of $$$...so this will be resolved..

Sheesh, and we thought Britney Spears was bad with her demands for five 12oz. bottles of Perrier chilled to precisely 39 degrees, and a one-quart bowl filled with ONLY green M&M’s.

He should go back to performing at weddings, like Rush Limbaugh’s.

RE: He should go back to performing at weddings, like Rush Limbaugh’s.

If like Rush, they’ll pay him a million bucks for an hour of performance, I think he’ll do it.

He should take his faggotry to the Middle East.

The most interesting suggestion I've heard today.

I suspect EJ is under pressure, because his gay fans don’t want him to play in Russia, so he comes up with the outrageous demands as a way out.

There may be more to this than meets the eye.

Many years ago, the rock group Van Halen was horrified when they noted that a lot of very important technical stuff in their contracts had been ignored, some of which could have resulted in injury or death. So they included a rider that there had to be M&M candies, but no brown ones, backstage, or they could cancel the concert and get full pay for it.

http://www.snopes.com/music/artists/vanhalen.asp

Thus they knew that the contract had at least been read prior to a performance, and there was a much better chance that the important stuff had been carried out as well.

Okay, so this being said, imagine trying to put on a concert in Russia, where there is minimal legal liability?

Not only is your contract going to have to be thorough, but it is going to have to be laced with inspection clauses, to make sure they did what they said they would, and didn’t do a shoddy job of it. Before you set foot on stage.

One thing that can be said about Elton John is that he is a firm believer in professionalism.

So much so that he has actually issued *bonds* based on his *future* commercial success, which I don’t think any performer has ever done before.

Thus I suspect this has everything to do with money, and very little to do with “homosexual solidarity”.

Rider requirement #6,592:
The performer will need a large Ukrainian footman on call 24/7 for seating Sir Elton, AKA “pushing in his Lordship’s stool”.

Let him Perform. Then when he pushes his gay agenda on stage they can arrest him and throw him in an underground dungeon for life.

A football helmet full of cottage cheese. And naked pictures of Bea Arthur.

Has Elton had a hit song in the last 30 years (other than Candle In Wind)?

How does this homosexual "queen" manage to remain in the music world? He hasn't had decent albums since the mid 70's and most of those songs were written by Bernie Taupin.

As a side note, his "tribute" song to Princess Diana was nothing but a disgraceful rewording of "Candle in the Wind" whose lyrics were originally written by Taupin with Elton responsible for the music.............

Well, the songs he co-wrote with Tim Rice for the Disney film: THE LION KING, is still a staple in Broadway even as we speak ( much like the songs written by ABBA for the Broadway show — MAMA MIA ).

I’m not a real fan of Taylor Swift, but she is know to just a few requests that are very easy and very inexpensive to meet when she’s on tour.

I think one reason she is so well liked is because she is just a nice person.

ABBA did not write songs for Mama Mia. Their existing songs were incorporated into the show and movie.
