There’s a really good reason to destroy the tapes: they don’t matter anymore. Once the punishment was levied they were just tapes, not evidence, evidence is for crimes, there was no crime here, just violation of kind of stupid rules. Yes they broke the rules, and got punished, happens all the time. We’ve got multiple teams with cap penalties right now for violating the cap, they broke the rules and got punished. Does that make those teams evil forever more? No, means they broke the rules and got punished.
He destroyed evidence because he knew most of the league did the very same thing. Mangini admitted that they were filming the Pats and got caught the year before. Shanahan hired people in the stands to read lips and give the info to the team ant halftime. Jimmy Johnson said he did the same stuff Belicheck and on and on.
