I used to eat it and I loved it - until the allergy took over.
I have replaced shrimp with fried fish (dipped in shrimp cocktail sauce)
or deep fried calamari (especially from PF Changs!)

Sorry to horn in...so, with your shellfish allergy, you can eat calamari?? This is great news! My allergy popped up several years ago...after many years of enjoying (no, loving) shrimp, lobster... :-( I’ve stayed away from calamari as I wasn’t sure about it. Thanks.
