(How do those birds’ tiny legs and feet remain functional when my fingers get cold and numb so quickly? :-)

Birds’ feet and legs have built-in insulators, which is why they can land on power lines without frying.

The rest of their bodies are insulated by the feathers. They fluff up and trap air and it keeps the cold out.
