I will say that it might be better to wait until they know who his replacement will be.
The worst-case scenario would be to fire Muschamp, then have your top 3 or 4 choices turn you down, then what?
At least when Zook was fired, Machen assured Foley they could get Meyer.
My fear is that Foley has garnered a reputation that makes coaches not want to work for him...The evidence is there, Spurrier’s, and Meyer’s departure and the fact that Foley only had Muschamp in mind does raise some questions as to why Foley couldn’t do better in attracting coaches with previous head coaching experience; remember, his other hire, Zook, also had no previous head coaching experience.
Foley's a UF lifer, and he may just have been there too long..a program can stagnate...
Then IMHO, Foley can go with him.
Years back, when the sanctions came down the thinking was offered that- if the AD knew - he was complicit. If he didn’t = he was incompetent.
And he may have a better record with other sports, but for football, his misses are quickly outnumbering his hits.
Thanks also for the thoughts on not keeping good coaches : \
Received this this morning.
