Yup. Yup. Yup. You and my DH should talk. He has been throwing up his hands and grumbling for two full seasons now, sigh.
One more point to remember...last week, the AD was "1,000% behind him." This week we're told that Boom will be back next season. NEXT WEEK, after the Seminoles take a whole mess of scalps...he could well be gone..Either Gators suck it up, and keep it close....or this gets VERY ugly, VERY early...and believe me, Jimbo and FSU would love to stomp all over the Gators..
Nope. But the scariest part is that, apparently, that ain’t enough to can him! AFTER losing to Vandy on Homecoming - sheesh.
Fear not FRiend, just ventin’ in your general direction ;) And Lord yes. FSU will bring every bit of their attitude, and this year - ability - and it will be a whoopin’ of historic proortions : / : | : \
Pray it will be enough to change the locks.
Tatt
I will say that it might be better to wait until they know who his replacement will be.
The worst-case scenario would be to fire Muschamp, then have your top 3 or 4 choices turn you down, then what?
At least when Zook was fired, Machen assured Foley they could get Meyer.
My fear is that Foley has garnered a reputation that makes coaches not want to work for him...The evidence is there, Spurrier’s, and Meyer’s departure and the fact that Foley only had Muschamp in mind does raise some questions as to why Foley couldn’t do better in attracting coaches with previous head coaching experience; remember, his other hire, Zook, also had no previous head coaching experience.
Right now UF is third best...simply because Gators no longer are locks to get the top recruits...so who are you gonna get that'd be better? And forget Charley Strong..
Foley's a UF lifer, and he may just have been there too long..a program can stagnate...
Michigan might open up soon as well.
Then IMHO, Foley can go with him.
Years back, when the sanctions came down the thinking was offered that- if the AD knew - he was complicit. If he didn’t = he was incompetent.
And he may have a better record with other sports, but for football, his misses are quickly outnumbering his hits.
Thanks also for the thoughts on not keeping good coaches : \
Foley reminds me in some ways of Jerry Jones (Did you like those three Super Bowls?”). He believes he is entitled because of his past success.
But he totally messed up with Muschamp, and Football by far is the biggest money maker for the school’s athletic department. And it’s not as if he was responsible for Spurrier nor Meyer. But he is responsible for Zook and Muschamp.
I'd say, Texas, USC, UF, UM...
and next year we get the SEC newtwork...
Here’s another fine mess.
Looks like we’ll have plenty o’ time to weed out the fair weather Gators again : |
Up until 2 weeks ago...Schiano was gonna be available....I had him ticketed back to Syracuse...
I’ve heard Kerwin Bell’s name thrown around.....but he doesn’t have any Division I head coaching experience....Bring him in as a coordinator, fine. But we can’t have any more “learning on the job” as a head coach.
HIRE TIM TEBOW!!!
Schiano had a mess on his hands with the whole Freeman situation (I blame that more on Freeman and TB was right to let him go), but they are playing better now. I think he is a pretty good coach.
Chucky, is an intriguing thought. But he’s been out of coaching for so long.
Yeah let’s hire another head coach with no previous head coaching experience.
OK, now that you’re laughing...what Foley should do, IMHO..is reach out to Chris Peterson. He just might be ready to move..BS’s new conference affiliation isn’t working out as expected..and he just might prefer Florida over California..
To posts 94 and 95 - Oh heck no! Do love Tim, and think he would make a great coach, but he’d have to start at the bottom and work up, which is fine by him from what I understand ;)
dfwgator is right. Coaching at Florida is NOT a job you can “intern” and work your way up on, Jeremy...
Well the other hire from BS hasn’t worked out all that well....of course that might be more on Muschamp than him.
