And wasn’t there some kind of stink about making sure that Obama had extra security and all the stuff he would need in case something happened at home while he was gone? I’ve got too much stuff in my head, but I think I remember something about that, and I wondered about that too at the time, because with the Extortion 17 stuff coming out, Benghazi, IRS, NSA, etc, I was thinking he might be getting desperate enough to make his move for martial law.

I can’t look up timeline stuff on this story today (although I’ve already spent more time on it this morning than I should because it’s intriguing and important) because I’m preparing to lead a youth retreat at church tonight and tomorrow, focusing on “The Immoveables” - the things that remain constant no matter how things change and fall apart around us. Specifically that “Your love never fails, never gives up, never runs out on me” (using Kristian Stanphill’s song as the theme song). I’m making for the kids some Scripture cards that can be carried in a wallet or purse. I’ve felt strongly that we have to be preparing our kids to face persecution and difficulties, and to know that Jesus is the only thing we have to have with us when we leave this world. The worst thing that could happen to us is to abandon Him.

What’s ‘funny’ about the October trip is its sudden nature. Usually these big diplomatic trips are planned literally six months in advance. This October trip seems to have been spur of the moment.
