I have relatives and friends that go into anaphylactic shock from peanut exposure. My nephew has two EpiPens: One for initial exposure and one to take on the way to the hospital. That’s two doses just to stay alive to get to the ER.

Your suggestion is ignorant at best, evil at worst. I didn’t know we had people like you on FR.

In my early 40s I had to have my gall bladder out. At that time, I had no food allergies. Once the gall bladder was out, I developed Celiac disease and severe allergies to numerous foods. Before I knew what had happened, I was losing 1/2 lb. a week as I was getting no nutrient from any food I ate - I was down to 110 lbs.. I was sent to a large allergy clinic and they separated my white cells out and put them on foods. My white cells attacked numerous foods.

They called me with a list of foods not to eat. I was allergic to so many foods I was eating, especially wheat. I stopped those foods, including wheat gluten, and after three days I was not sick anymore and I stopped losing weight and began to get the nutrients from foods into my body. I didn't eat wheat for many years and wasn't getting sick anymore.

You will know something is very wrong if you have Celiac disease because you will stay sick and lose weight. I had never heard of that disease, I was just sick all the time and losing weight until I was told not to eat anything with wheat in it plus those other foods.

I can't imagine people saying they have Celiac disease and they really don't; they just want to be cool claiming they have it. It's a terrible disease to have.

This is what happens if one has Celiac disease: "Celiac disease leads to destruction of the villi that line the walls of the small intestine. The destruction of these villi affects a person's ability to absorb critical vitamin and nutrients—particularly the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K."

Also, during the time I was so sick, losing 1/2 lb. a week, at 110 lbs., there weren't that many more 1/2 lbs. to lose. The doctor put me in the hospital and I think every test known to mankind was done on me to try to find out why I kept losing weight even though I was eating - I was also staying in the bathroom a lot as my food went in and came out without my body getting any nutrients from the food.

The doctor said to me, “You don't have cancer, but nothing else is working right.” That's when I was sent to the large allergy clinic and the problem was found. My small intestine had been rendered smooth by Celiac disease so it did not absorb nutrients.
