Had someone I know that taught in the inner city. Student’s name on the list was La-a. Try as he could, he could not get the pronunciation correct. Turns out the young lady’s name in spoken English was “La Dash A”. Guess if you want to name your child in a way to go through life pissed off, that’s a good start.
