A man in New Mexico was pulled over by police for a minor traffic violation. When officers said a K-9 unit sniffed drugs on the driver’s seat, the officers forced the man to undergo invasive medical procedures, including an anal exam.
It may sound nearly identical to David Eckert’s nightmarish story as reported by TheBlaze Tuesday, but this is an entirely different incident.
It does, however, involve the same uncertified drug-sniffing dog in New Mexico. The dog’s name is Leo.
Police in Lordsburg, N.M., pulled over Timothy Young for allegedly turning without using his blinker, according to police reports. Though it is unclear why, the officers with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department suspected the driver of possessing drugs, KOB-TV reported.
The incident occurred Oct. 13, 2012, according to the timestamp on the police car’s dashcam video. Just like in Eckert’s case, Leo the K-9 alerted officers to possible drugs on Young’s seat, the report said.
Armed with what police said was probable cause and a search warrant, officers took Young to the Gila Medical Center in Silver City, N.M. The name of the hospital may sound familiar because it’s the exact same hospital Eckert was taken for the invasive hunt for drugs in his body that lasted more than 12 hours.
Young was then reportedly subjected to X-rays and an anal exam. They found no drugs.
Young, just like Eckert, says he did not consent to any of the procedures, which were performed in a county not covered by the search warrant obtained by police.
The similarities between the two cases go on and on. Now, KOB-TV is reporting that Leo the K-9 “seems to get it wrong pretty often.” As it turns out, the K-9 is not even currently certified in the state of New Mexico.

Even more disturbing...while these cops are playing anal tag with Anglo suspects....there are Mexican Drug Cartels and Illegal Aliens running across that border just south of Lordsburg and Deming....yet we have cops playing proctologist in Silver City..another hour drive north of Deming/Lordsburg

If it were I.....
I’d start with major law suits, (plural).
And they should pray that they lose.
Because they would prefer being broke, to my “Plan B” alternative.
According to this, the guy may have a long drug history. So, does that make all of his claims OK, including multiple forced enemas with officers watching? No. If they did everything he claims, then somewhere along the line this was a rape.
However, all we have are claims from all sides. Maybe he has no drug history, maybe the cops and doctors didn’t do everything he describes as he describes it.
Plus a second guy with the same types of claims. Maybe they are both pure as snow and the cops are sadistic Nazis. Or maybe they are both known drug users looking for attention.
However, I will agree, that if the cops did all of this to both men as described, they and the doctors should go to prison.
I’ve driven through Deming several times and will probably have to do so again. No wonder they have so many singles ads on billboards going into the town.
This whole story is originating with the original plaintiff’s lawyer (cited in the article).
So maybe the whole story happened just like she said, and maybe we’ll eventually hear “the rest of the story”.
I won’t draw any conclusions, but I AM constantly amazed at how the FR Libertarian contingent invariably accepts, without the slightest hint of credulity, the payday seeking lawyer’s word as gospel. No need for questions, no need to ask if the version of events presented is even true. Nope, a plaintiff’s lawyer would never embellish the truth!

In Luna County, the dirty cops keep the dirtier cops in line with mutual threats of blackmail, everybody knows where all the bodies are buried. Everybody know who worked for which cartel, when. Who provided security at dope runs and stash houses.
What's worse, the DOJ and FBI and ATF use these dirty Luna County cops as their enforcers, dirty ops henchmen, and paid perjurers. Each of these dirty cops could go away for 30 to life if they were examined, so they are happy to play stooge for the DOJ I return for a blind eye and informant pay.
This story is just the tip of a very dirty iceberg.

The investigator for KOB TV has seen the medical records and warrant. The warrant was for one county, but the “exams” were performed in another county. The warrant expired at 10 p.m., the medical procedures started at 1 a.m. the following day. This isn’t just a he said/they said situation. Lots of corroborating evidence.
Go back to the original investigation report by KOB TV. They laid out the evidence after reviewing the plaintiff’s medical records and the warrant.
I will never set foot in New Mexico again.
According the local paper, this guys has a long drug history with several pending charges and was known to keep drugs in his anus.
Could be a lie, but before we string up the cops, we might want to get the whole story.
And after the first enema they couldn’t tell that was not the case THIS time?
The whole story is these officers were out of bounds and outside of the law regardless of the mans innocence or guilt.
Hey, it’s New Mexico. Little different from Old Mexico. If one isn’t an illicit drug user, dealer, runner, broker or manufacturer it would behoove one to get his ass out of there or start a group of vigilantes and start cleaning out the rats nest before it consumes the good guys still remaining.

According to a police affidavit accompanying the lawsuit, a detective asked a different officer to pull over Eckert's 1998 brown Dodge pickup truck for not properly stopping at a stop
Detectives don't roam around looking for traffic violations. Probably they were following this guy after a suspected drug buy. The traffic stop was just an excuse for a search.
And, as we all know, a drug user would never exaggerate a police encounter.
"Hildalgo County K-9 officer did inform me that he had dealt with Mr. Eckert on a previous case and stated that Mr. Eckert was known to insert drugs into his anal cavity and had been caught in Hidalgo County with drugs in his anal cavity," the affidavit said.
Should be an interesting trial.
