Fatwa forbids Muslims from traveling to Mars Well, there goes the NASA muslim outreach! I guess we can chalk it up as ANOTHER one of the usurper's failed initiatives.

Just as a bit of trivia, I once read that from Mars one could see our Moon as separate (but much fainter) point of light, just next to Earth.I don't think so:

Send them to Venus instead. I've been told Uranus is a secret destination for many.

"These experiments will lead to the destruction of those who try, and so should be done with animals, not people," he said.
Hey, Al. If certain Muslims go, it WILL be done with animals: all those who commit honor killings, all those who harm children, and all those hurt little girls who want an education.

No big surprise here. This is why there are no Muslim characters in futuristic space operas.

Not trying to be disagreeable, but the Riddick stories are full of them. As a matter of fact, it’s as if they took over the human race, and it’s just the common background.

No big surprise here. This is why there are no Muslim characters in futuristic space operas. Well..there certainly aren't in Star Trek; but there aren't any Christians in Star Trek, either. Rodenberry (the creator of Star Trek) explicitly said that by the time of Star Trek: The Next Generation mankind had "grown out" of religion, and that belief in God in the 24th Century was virtually unknown.
When J. Michael Straczynski created the series "Babylon 5" in the '90s, he made it a point to illustrate the religion was alive and well in his version of the 23rd Century, and had characters who were Christian and Jewish. In the background, other characters were occasionally mentioned as being Muslim or atheist.
Interesting tidbit: Roddenberry was an atheist, as is Straczynski, but the latter seems to have a much more realistic view of mankind.
