I agree that we should discuss how Shep’s lifestyle, values, and beliefs may color his news casting and commentary. Honest discussion about the topic is warranted.
I also agree with Mustang that the middle school mud slinging and profanity brings down the group. I feel like I’m reddit lately.
There has been a creeping hostility on FR over the past few years that wasn’t as bad when I joined. If you look at the ten year old threads you’ll find serious, deep, thoughtful discourse more than insults. I don’t know if conservatives have lost their grace or if this is a reflection of the growing incivility on the internet in general.
Obviously, Conservatives are not immune to the ‘slippery slope’ phenomena.
And no, I’m not an uppity, tight-lipped marm. I love fart jokes and I must admit that I have to sense of humor of a 13 year old boy. BUT, I’m an adult that believes that there’s a time a place for everything. I respect FR, so I behave with respect when I’m here. If I want to giggle at dick jokes, I’ll read Cracked for an hour.
(Incidentally, I also swear like a sailor in my own house, but I don’t speak like that in front of my MIL.)
I think it has more to do with being pushed around by PC liberals. People are fed up. There's a backlash coming and it won't be pretty.

I’m sure it’s people like me chiming in, who aren’t particularly elegant in their discourse. I go through these spurts of being REALLY interested in politics, like around election time, and now because my healthcare is being screwed around with by idiots in Washington.
Hopefully its a good thing. Maybe they’ve really pissed off enough people this time. I doubt it, but I can hope.
