CASTLE DALE, Utah, - Authorities in Utah said a trio of Boy Scout leaders may face felony charges for destroying an ancient rock formation at a state park.
Utah State Parks officials said they are exploring potential charges against the three men, who posted a Facebook video of themselves knocking over one of Goblin Valley State Park's rock formations, known as "goblins," which was millions of years old, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Friday.
"Some little kid was about ready to walk down here and die and Glenn saved his life by getting the boulder out of the way," the cameraman is heard saying. "So it's all about saving lives here at Goblin Valley."
Glenn Taylor said he was the man who pushed over the rock formation while fellow scout leaders and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints youth leaders Dave Hall and Dylan Taylor watched.
Taylor said he thought he was doing a "civic service" by knocking over the formation after seeing a family walking near it.
"I put my hand on a rock and it moved," he said. "While we were sitting right there we thought, 'Man if this rock falls it'll kill them.' I didn't have to push hard."
Taylor said he now believes he should have contacted a ranger instead of knocking over the formation.
Scout leader? Not hardly. Reminds me of the idiots who carve their names on Indian petroglyphs.
“It’s for the children” ... give me a break.
LMAO!
This is just terra-ble.
It's a social issue blown out of proportion to distract the masses.
Not until...
"I put my hand (well, both hands, and all my weight) on a rock and it moved,"
Well... I guess he won the bet.
Change the name if you want, it won't keep pedophiles from finding concentrated areas of children. It's not like this kind of thing never happens in religious environments.
Where were the 'boys' all this time ?
Hoodoo you think you are making such puns?
The rock wasn’t his to ***k with. Apparently no one taught these cretins to keep their hands off.
Millions of years? One good flash flood would take that thing out.
What this guy did was stupid, but that particular rock probably wasn’t going to be there much longer, anyway.
So if some liberal do-gooder decides something at your house is a danger to the children, they can take it upon themselves to destroy it?
Careful what you wish for.
They’re probably closet homosexual pedophiles anyway. Lock them up in homosexual Heaven. (prison)
"Then Samson called to the LORD and said, "O Lord GOD, please remember me and please strengthen me just this time, O God, that I may at once be avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes." Samson grasped the two middle pillars on which the house rested, and braced himself against them, the one with his right hand and the other with his left. And Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines!" And he bent with all his might so that the house fell on the lords and all the people who were in it. So the dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he killed in his life.
"
How recent is that picture of the Leaning Tower? I don’t remember it leaning so much in other pictures?
...
We also have a reporter who viewed the video and took the opportunity to tarnish upstanding organization because said buffoons were members at sometime.
They weren't leaders 'at sometime'. They were current leaders of Troop 852, Highland, Utah, Utah National Parks Council. They were on an outing with eight Scouts.
As for the uniform, the BSA Field Uniform ("Class A"- a term that's commonly used but isn't recognized by the BSA) isn't worn for all activities. Scouts are allowed to wear an activity uniform ("Class B") for active wear, which is generally any BSA t-shirt or plain t-shirt, and any BSA hat - but Troops set their own standards.
What these leaders did not only violates federal law, but breaches everything the Boy Scouts teach about Outdoor Ethics and Leave No Trace.
It takes such a lot of people holding that thing up...
I guess the old, dusty Scout Oath about being trustworthy, etc, etc went out the window. On the plus side, this lying twit should be perfect for a role in government.
