Fitting! Healthcare.gov contractors reportedly experiencing sickness, fainting

CGI Federal is the Canadian IT company charged with putting together and maintaining the “excruciatingly embarrassing” Healthcare.gov site. And evidently, it genuinely sucks to be them:

The healthcare.gov debacle has taken its toll on the working environment at CGI Federal’s 10-story complex in Fairfax, Va., according to a staffer working on a related project who asked not to be named. “There’s been a lot of agitation and anger, because CGI really prides itself on having family flexibility,” he said, noting the firm’s liberal telework policy. Instead, the Obamacare contract has sucked more and more staff off other projects, and people have been working around the clock to first get the site ready for Oct. 1, and then fix it when things started to go wrong. “There’s a lot of frustration,” the staffer said. “People are getting sick, fainting in conference calls.”

Wait until their “software” is hacked and all that personal data is proven vulnerable. As it is, the government is hiring degenerate low skilled “navigators” to help people collect and catalog sensitive information into a database that won’t keep, hold or protect data.

Guess who won’t be even trying to log into that website/software? THIS GUY!

I think they spent $650 Million dollars to create a national virus.

Heheheheh. What if there was a brain drain there? What if it’s already happening. I’ll bet the programmers are making BIG six figure incomes. It’s all about the golden handcuffs, baby!

Been there, done that. It ain’t worth it. Eventually you see it solely as a cash cow and the work doesn’t matter. You go through the motions and never really produce anything.

Then again, in this case it may be wishful thinking on my part. ;-)

If you had the misfortune to work on a failing project for Stalin I imagine the stress levels were bad for you health, too.

I don't think it has to even be a failing project. Hospitals and doctors were busy with stress relate issues when the local university rolled out a new accounting package a few years ago..

““People are getting sick, fainting in “

Wow nothing has changed. Didn’t Obama had that during his campaign?

Your right. I just don’t think it’s very professional to faint during a conference call.

As my mother once told an IRS man who was standing at our doorstep, after he excused what he was doing by saying it was just his job, “ A better man would have a better job.”

While their coders MIGHT be making 6 figures. . . it will be low 6s. You see, no contractor is allowed to make more than a Senator.

So you get decent, but not great coders, engineers, etc. You simply can’t afford the truly star-quality people. . .

Those people are putting in 90 hour weeks as some political hack with a whip stands over their shoulders and screams “You WILL make it work....or ELSE!!!”

Well, Stalin's boys had a "cure" for that. You were real calm after that.

Them expecting any sympathy is like being asked to apologize to your executioner. The judas programmers could faint until they die for all I care. Pox upon them all.
