We get no trick-or-treaters. We are only about a mile from a small community but the kids are taken to places where there are more houses.
I usually buy my favorite candy just in case someone shows up ... Dove Bars, Hershey w/Almonds, butterfinger or Payday.
When Junior was very young, I took him to the small community where we knew most everyone.
I took him to the postmistress’ and she said ... Oh how cute you are; get your Mommy and come in for hot chocolate and some chocolate chip cookies. It is a favorite memory. We made the elder lady happy and the cookies were wonderful.
My MIL always looked forward to the neighbor children; she wanted them to take off their masks so she could see who they were and she could pinch their little red cheeks.
Halloween is for kids and older people who do not get out much.
YES!!! I understand.
My son gets hundreds of kids; he has to turn off the lights because he runs out of candy about 8:00. He gets teenagers and even a few parents grabbing candy out of his goody bowl.
I’m happy I do not live in a place as large as FResno. The teenagers make a mess and create chaos. Of course, they all want whatever goodies you are handing out.
Just another advantage to living in the country.
Oh My ... what would I do with Max and Daisy not to mention Mr Mittens.
A few years ago we were thinking about selling the ranch and moving to a small community. Couldn’t find a place with a large enough yard. So we sold 20 acres and kept 20. We have a yard that is more than big enough. LOL
Good on ya!! You go, gal.
I haven’t ridden my GS1100 for years now.
Bryan is thinking of selling all our bikes.
Can sit on mine, but dang my arthritic hips!
Can’t put a foot down when I stop, so I don’t ride anymore.
Still love Leon Russel’s cover of “Midnight Rider.” Sigh...
I heard him sing it live at a concert about 35 years ago, and
it will always be my favorite version. Love the lyrics.
“But I’m not gonna let ‘em catch me. No!”
October 17th...last week!
I like it when the kids make their own costumes.
I am so sick of power rangers and Princesses! LOL!
Lynn-Dah doesn’t mind living in an apartment. I make sure she gets out for plenty of walks with mom.
I LOVE Leon Russel! Haven’t heard from him in a LONG time.
Not doing much this year. Didn’t even get out any of our Halloween decorations. Halloween kinda snuck up on me this year. Making a big pot of chili has become a tradition at our house for Halloween, so I will probably just stick with that and that will be our Halloween celebration for this year. :-)

Well, he’s 71, and he may be slowing down just a bit.
I really love his work as well.
Thanks!
:-)
Thank You! I appreciate it!
((((HUGS))))
YW! My pleasure, friend.

We just might do the same here!!
Polly
Good evening, MamaBear.
The chili sounds good. We don’t celebrate much after Marissa has gotten older. They have a party at school so she can wear her costume. The Youth Group may have a get-together on Halloween. Not sure if she is going since the next day is an early morning for school. She gets between up 5:00 and 5:30.
As our plane began its descent, the flight attendant read the long list of arrival information as if she were reading it for the thousandth time that dayno emotion or interest as she droned on about our impending arrival. Then, with the same tired, disinterested voice, she finished by saying, Have a wonderful day. The dryness of her tone contrasted with her words. She said wonderful but in a manner completely absent of any sense of wonder.
Sometimes I fear that we approach our relationship with God in the same way: Routine. Bored. Apathetic. Disinterested. Through Christ, we have the privilege of being adopted into the family of the living God, yet often there seems to be little of the sense of wonder that should accompany that remarkable reality.
Job questioned God about his suffering, but when challenged by Him, Job was humbled by the wonder of his Creator and His creation. Job replied, You asked, Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge? Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know (Job 42:3).
I long for the wonder of God to take hold of my heart. Adopted by Godwhat a wonderful reality!
Read: Job 42:1-6
Love your graphic, Polly!
