I do know what I am missing.

Immoral and Amoral characters. Gory violence. Meaningless sex and nudity. Lots and lots of foul language.

did I miss anything?

Yes, yes you are missing much.

No meaningless sex or nudity. Just the human sole laid bare.

Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!’

Yeah, you missed the greatest show since “The Shield,” which, BTW, I’m surprised the author didn’t mention, because it too built to an unflinching conclusion.

Actually the last two are practically nonexistent in the show, but go ahead and make your judgments based on zero knowledge. You seem very comfortable doing it.

“Immoral and Amoral characters. Gory violence. Meaningless sex and nudity. Lots and lots of foul language.”

Yes, most of the characters are portrayed as immoral, scared out of their minds, struggling to deal with their situations, and failing, badly. It does not glamorize the immorality at all.

It does have gory violence, but it isn’t the centerpiece. In fact, the show has very little of it. But when it does, it often involves braniac chemistry, which is part of the show’s appeal.

No nudity, very little sexuality.

Some foul language, but mostly from the depraved youths. And when the adults use it, it’s in high-tension situations.

So there’s some of what you suspect, but there’s just so much more to the show that can’t be described in words. It’s worth seeing with your own eyes.

There’s actually very little nudity, if any that I can recall, and no profanity other than Hell and damn. They may say p*ss at times, but I’m not even sure if they say that. Anyone who watches the show, can you remember if they drop the F bomb? If they did, it was only once or twice.

Not a lot of sex. More just drugs, lowlifes and death.

Shakespeare would have written Breaking Bad.

This is truly thoughtful writing. Nothing has been on screen at this level.

Are you by chance commenting on Game of Thrones? I watched two episodes the other night and was SHOCKED that anyone would ever recommend such a perverted show.

Almost everything, which is why the old cliche about “assume” exists. Nice try though and no offense intended. It’s just funny when people who don’t know about a subject try to claim they do through assumptions.

Are you talking about Shakespeare?

You must not like a lot of Greek tragedies, or even Shakespeare.

Actually, there’s not much sex. I can only think of one episode with nudity — the pilot (not sure how they got away with that one on AMC; I assume they blurred it out on air.)

How can you have a story without immoral/amoral characters? How can you not have a villain? Where would the conflict come from, and how can there be a good guy without the bad ones?

I think a lot of people think Walter White is meant to be the hero when they first start watching. He isn’t. He becomes the villain.

Hank, the DEA agent, is the hero. And eventually Jesse (the young meth-head and Walter White’s partner) is sort of a tragic hero.

Anyway, I understand that this show isn’t for anyone — it is very upsetting and heavy — but writing it off as some Hollywood garbage is ridiculous. The gore and violence isn’t gratuitous; we are talking about a drug empire. There’s gonna be a lot of gore and violence. And in real life, people say bad words. Actually, since this is on cable, they only get one F-word a season, and even then it’s bleeped out. Although this season they have managed to get in two. They always save them for just the right moment. Wish other shows had to be as selective with their curse words.
