I miss not having to close the garage door or lock the front door, unless you went out of town.
I miss people’s word being as good as a signature, and business being done with a handshake.
I miss the standard of decency that used to be upheld - that everyone knew what the rules were and that some things “just weren’t done.”
I miss nieghborhoods and parks being safe for children to play in.
I miss children being able to walk to school (back when schools allowed prayer and taught patriotism and weren’t socialist indoctrination camps).
I also miss the good manners that people once had - where people acted like ladies and gentlemen and were polite and kind to one another.
I miss television shows that had loving mothers and fathers that were fonts of wisdom and not portrayed as silly fools.
I miss variety shows that everybody could watch and you didn’t have to send the kids to bed early to see.
I miss movies that did not insult my intelligence or had an agenda.
I miss making telephone calls to businesses that you did not have to ‘Press 1 for English.’
I miss eating restaurant food that did not taste like it was made in a factory in Mexico.
I miss having the TV news not be a propaganda arm of a political party.
I miss not worrying if my child was going to be killed at school by some monster with a chip on his shoulder.
I miss being able to talk freely about sports, religion, politics or the weather without fear of being labelled a ‘nut’.
I miss going to visit relatives in another state without worrying that the fuel cost would break the bank account.
I miss having enough money to send those relatives nice gifts for birthdays and holidays.
I miss not having to avert my eyes or shield my children’s eyes when a parade float came by that had a rainbow on it.
I miss America.........
