No, but I would like to move back in time 100 years.

Well, what are you going to do about it.

To paraphrase from the movie Young Guns "Charlie, if you don't stand up and start whopping some ass, you aren't ever going to see her again."

I miss it all too. But there is a solution, people like us need to sacrifice and run for any political Office that we can handle. HOA, School board, PTA, congress, whatever!

Leftists survive off of government handouts and money from foundations, universities and unions. They make careers in politics where we focus on our businesses, jobs and family. We need to take the hit and serve our country like the founding fathers did. They put business on hold so they could serve their time in office.

I miss the olden days when people had good morals and common sense, and if they didn’t have good morals they kept it well hidden. My children and grandchildren have all been raised to be Christians and decent people. So it’s boggling to look around and wonder what happened to others that caused such decay.

My oldest brother is suffering from a severe form of Leukema, and he is going on a Catholic Retreat soon. Secretly, we were asked to write him a sort of ‘love’ letter telling him how we feel about him. It was hard to do and I shed some tears trying to tell him what a good and decent man he is and how we admire him and love him.

We need more good men [and women] like him.

Recently while doing a pet sit for one of my clients, I noticed a little red book on the coffee table. In gold letters was George Washington's name, of course I had to take a closer look to see what it was.

George Washington's Rules of Civility & Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation

And of course in doing so I violated rule 18 and in posting about it here...I broke a few more I guess.

Well, perhaps not. But this is the America I miss. Many of these rules were still taught when I was growing up.

As great as America WAS, the millenial kingdom of Christ will be infinitely better than even that.

MY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Dear Jesus, up and down the street they wonder why
I have Christmas lights burning in the month of July!
They say I’m a trashy redneck, fit for a trailer park
When I let those beautiful lights shine from dawn until dark!
But they don’t understand the reason those lights shine above
Is because You have given to me Your everlasting love —

My Christmas lights are burning every day of the year
Because You took away all my doubt and my fear!
Every day’s Your birthday party and all day I celebrate
‘Cause You were born in my heart and removed the devil’s hate
From my heart that had been captive, so dark and so blue
Yes Lord, I shine my Christmas lights, they’re up for You!

Dear Jesus, up and down the street they think it’s odd
When I keep that manger scene lit with the Son of God
Lying there in the straw in a lowly feeding trough
They tell me that it’s summer time and I should turn it off!
But Jesus, in my heart you are born each and every day
And you come so kind and humble, as You once were in the hay!

Dear Jesus, up and down the street I tell them the news
That when You’re born in their hearts, no one can accuse
That it is ever wrong to shine their lights and celebrate
How Jesus saved their souls before the time was too late
To accept Your love so wide and deep and high and so true —
Yes all of them should keep their Christmas lights up for You!

We're told that for better or worse change is the only constant in life. We can affect change or not but we are all certainly affected by it. I was reminded of this recently when I happened to be listening to Glenn Campbell's classic hit song ‘’Gentle On My Mind’’. I remember America when this beautiful song was new. It was a time of optimism , a ‘’can-do’’ spirit and innocence even and a nation that knew it's place in the world as the greatest country on Earth. It was a time of great music and movies like ‘’Its A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World’’ and ‘’The Russians Are Coming’’and great tv shows like ‘’Combat’’ and ‘’Get Smart’’and of great accomplishment, exemplified by our space program that culminated in landing men on the moon.
There were tragedies to be sure. The assassination of a president, a long, protracted and unpopular war in Vietnam and there was Watergate. The America of Glenn Campbell's heyday, the America of great music and art and proud achievement has vanished. I sometimes wish I were born today and have been spared the memory of how great America once was.

I miss when the GOP actually stood for good things and wasn’t the rubber stamp for the Democrats, and when you could proudly claim to be a Republican.
