I have a book titled, “The Ice Man,” which is about the discovery of the 5,500 year old mummy which was found in the Italian Alps in 1991. It is a MOST fascinating story, even as they are learning more about the man and his world. Science is such a TOOL!!

Interbreeding with viable, fertile offspring = same species.
For anyone who doubts that Neanderthalers are the same species as us, I offer exhibit A:
Don't make me pull up exhibit B (Helen Thomas)!

But we stopped bumping uglies with homo neanderthalensis about 50,000 years ago.
We sapiens invented stone tools and started spending all our time out in the garage.

Don't make me pull up exhibit B (Helen Thomas)!Would be an invalid comparison since by all criteria Helen Thomas was not human...

Neanderthals had a stone tool kit that was so well designed that they used it for 100,000 years.

Oddly enough, the Neandertal-bashing got its start from Virchow, who was very much in the anti-Evo camp. His degradation of the Neandertals reached its nadir with his claim that the remains were of a Slavic soldier — with rickets — who for some reason was naked when he died in the 18th c, hiding in the cave where he was found.
