About 40 percent of white Americans and about 25 percent of non-white Americans are surrounded exclusively by friends of their own race, according to an ongoing Reuters/Ipsos poll.
The figures highlight how segregated the United States remains in the wake of a debate on race sparked by last months acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting of unarmed black Florida teenager Trayvon Martin. President Barack Obama weighed in after the verdict, calling for Americans to do some soul searching on whether they harbor racial prejudice.
There are regions and groups where mixing with people of other races is more common, especially in the Hispanic community where only a tenth do not have friends of a different race. About half of Hispanics who have a spouse or partner are in a relationship with non-Hispanics, compared to one tenth of whites and blacks in relationships.

I have black conservative friends....and I have the utmost respect for them, because I know what they face from the others who share their skin color who accuse them of not being “down with the struggle.”
I think you are 100% correct in that

>>Nonsense. Pure bullshit. In THIS country, I would find it IMPOSSIBLE not to have friends of EVERY ethnic persuasion.<<
‘ethnic and political persuasion” Yes, I agree even though most of mine are imaginary friends. I must admit that I don’t have any friends who are queers, lesbos, child molesters, rapists, robbers or lawyers. I should work on balancing these types into my circle of friends but unfortunately there’s just no more room.
“Ive met of various races (Filipino, Hispanic, Indian) usually after a while seem to need to come out and remind me Im white, or they complain to ME that they are being discriminated against by white people, which is a damn excuse for general incompetence.”
Something that used to put me over-the-top pissed off were Filipino ladies in the city office where I worked. Our department secretary would sometimes whine that she couldn’t always hear (overhear?) our conversations, and complained to management that we were probably talking about her. (We didn’t care enough about her to talk about it, but that’s another story.) Then, a minute later, she was on the phone yakkity-yakking in Tagalog with her friend down the hall, loudly, right in front of us. We assumed she WAS talking about us.
The Exterminator!!!
How could I have not used that one!
