No swarm of hummingbirds here, but I did have a murder of crows waiting outside when I emerged to carry the bag containing our kitchen garbage to the curbside collection basket enclosure this morning.

They're "feeders" of a sort, if the netting over them isn't securely in place, but much messier than the ones you've described.
