Helen Thomas is not on the same level of evil as Hitler and Stalin
And yet there is this Proverbs 24: 17-18:
17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles ; 18 Or the LORD will see it and be displeased , And turn His anger away from him.

This could also be interpreted as a simple statement of fact, not a recommendation. The propriety of a celebration would depend on the circumstances.
Absolutely no apologies or soft-peddling. Forgot to mention LBJ, Tip O’Neil and Teddy Kennedy. I’ll think of more later.
Since Jesus came He told us to love our neighbors as ourselves. I don’t think these prayers are correct for us to pray...but sometimes one can’t help being relieved when we see justice served. Death means that soul will never have another chance to make things right with their Maker. It is sad.
Debate open...
Can we start here? How many translations from Greek to Latin, some Aramaic thrown in, then on to German, French and English after 2 millenia. I don't disparage faith but my status as a self-identified agnostic causes me to question it.
There are sheep and there are sheepdogs. Sheepdogs hate all wolves equally.
Death to tyrants.
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
"At 4 o'clock, all of the wicked shall be 2 feet tall. Oh yes, there will be glad shouting."
Peoples World is the flagship publication of Communist Party USA, and the successor publication to the Daily Worker. It recently carried back-to-back articles that were very revealing of a dubious but old tradition among the American left. To wit: Americas communists have always found alliesuseful idiots, dupesamong the liberal/progressive left, the mainstream Democratic Party, and (especially) the religious left. As to the latter, Im ever reminded of the words of the late Herb Romerstein, who told me: The religious left; they were the biggest suckers of them all.
Proverbs 11:10 is an observation on human nature. As proverbs generally are. It is not a heavenly dictat.
There is absolutely nothing in the New Testament that would indicate Jesus celebrates in casting souls into hell.
There is endless fodder in the Old Testament for people that want the Bible to agree with their views, which is probably why we were given the New Testament.
Loving one’s enemies as yourself doesn’t leave a lot of wiggle room for rejoicing when they die in an evil state and are cast into hell.
Feelings of relief or justice are different issues.
when will the wicked perish, it seems like they have the upper hand at the moment
