(more good news) Stevie Wonder Boycotting Florida Following Zimmerman Verdict
cbs ^ | 7-16-13

Posted on 07/16/2013 9:39:14 AM PDT by doug from upland

Stevie Wonder plans to avoid Florida at all costs following the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in a Sanford, Fla., gated community.

While performing in Quebec City, Canada, on Sunday, the 63-year-old singer said he wouldn't perform in the state so long as the Stand Your Ground law is still in existence.

"I decided today that until the Stand Your Ground law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again," Wonder told the crowd. "As a matter of fact, wherever I find that law exists, I will not perform in that state or in that part of the world."

The law allows people to defend themselves with force if they feel threatened in their home, business, car or a place where they "have a legal right to be."

In a video clip from the show, posted on YouTube, Wonder asked for fans' support: "The truth is that -- for those of you who've lost in the battle for justice, wherever that fits in any part of the world -- we can't bring them back. What we can do is we can let our voices be heard. And we can vote in our various countries throughout the world for change and equality for everybody. That's what I know we can do."

Watch Wonder's remarks below, and tell us what you think in the comments:

Hey Stevie, we will be happy not to have your sorry @$$ in Texas again. I'd really like open carry, but you couldn't see the gun anyway.

If Stevie Wonder was white and not blind, he’d be a bagger at Wal Mart. I hate his music.

Anyone needing a Stevie fix can get it on Youtube.

I didn't hear that Stevie Wonder shoots smack. But here is John Lennon offering him a toot of cocaine

"So he’s against people having the right to defend their life, got it."

Meanwhile, he's probably had armed bodyguards for years following him around.

This is good news. The people of Florida don’t want him stumbling around down there anyway.
