Sopranos star James Gandolfini, who struggled with booze addiction in his final weeks, scarfed down a decadent final meal that included at least eight alcoholic drinks, The Post has learned.
Gandolfini guzzled four shots of rum, two pina coladas, and two beers at dinner with his son while he chowed down on two orders of fried king prawns and a large portion of foie gras, a hotel source in Rome said.
The Emmy Award winner had attended several Alcoholics Anonymous meetings on Perry Street in the West Village, but people who saw him there didnt think that he was serious about getting sober, said a source familiar with the matter.

No flames here. Sorry to see him go. According to his diet, and love for cigars, it seems he was heading to an early grave. WAY too much coverage in the MSM and cable. After all he was not a Head of State etc, just an actor.
I think that would make him Irish.
A Gandolfini friend is saying autopsy report says no evidence of any substance abuse.
Food is a substance that can be abused....
“But Im sure the years of doing cocaine and drinking took their toll”
No doubt. The body can take a remarkable amount of abuse but eventually it all catches up, and it seems he didn’t lead the healthiest life style on so many levels whether drinking, eating, etc.
Here we go again. Spanky will probably lower flags at half staff for another entertainer who didn’t spend a minute in uniform. Will this cheapening of the honor ever end?

“Will this cheapening of the honor ever end?”
In Obamaland those who earn something — whether a material reward or a symbolic honor — really didn’t earn it, and those who did nothing earn everything.
And I thought Alice in Wonderland was a trippy topsy-turvy tale . . . we now are living in strange times.
Can you imagine what the coverage will be like when Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez passes away? The entire MSNBC crew will be broadcasting from the Portico as the late President Bartlet lies in state.
Burial to follow in Arlington National Cemetary.
Governor Christie should take heed.
My FIL did that with the apple too. Onion, no so much. Very modest wine, usually a toast for birthdays or holidays, no beer, no booze. Italian born and bred, from Rota Greca.

Here’s a word I almost forgot as I haven’t heard it used in decades;

I told Gandolfini I would out live him.
You were right!
Ironically, most alcoholics don’t die directly from alcohol. They die from accidents or high blood pressure or heart attacks.
You can tell when an alcoholic is going to drink himself to death because he quits eating and subsists almost solely on alcohol alone.
He’ll close down the state if Springsteen kicks the can.
Thanks for my new word of the day.
Who cares??? Obviously, millions of Gandolfini’s fans care. It’s only fitting that the greatest TV actor of all time would get this much attention. But I’m biased-—I loved the Sopranos and consider it the best TV show ever made. If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it.
That’s because you wouldn’t have had the foie gras.
Whatever the hell that is.
