Whether this latest scandal gets "resolved" or not, the cat is out of the bag - NONE of our private information is private. And with increasingly intricate and advanced technologies emerging, we can only expect the situation to get much, MUCH worse. They just won't tell us the next time, and simply "disappear" anyone who quits his classified government job.
I've always suspected that we would eventually have to again embrace low-tech methods of communication to combat government fascism such as we're now seeing. Notes in archaic or obscure languages, codes and other unsuspected methods are going to, out of necessity, come back into use by true, constitutional Americans. It will be inefficient, but will give us good practice for when the entire networked infrastructure completely collapses.
I am looking into a HAM radio setup at the house, along with learning classical Greek, which I think should be the new official language of the New Republic.
That gives me an idea for a story about a hand written grocery list that’s found centuries from now.
Use craigslist for the ham equipment and learn morse. When the NSA starts hiring 70-80 year olds to decode Morse, switch to PSK.
Someone here posted a link to a video yesterday. What it said, jokingly, is that we should overwhelm the system. Every phone call, text, email, etc we should throw in terrorist talk. Say something about truck bombs or shooting people. They wouldn’t be able to investigate all the crazy talk/type.
Bear in mind we’ve just learned thanks to the Anthrax Zombie that the Postal Service photographs every piece of mail that goes thru the system.
That leaves HAM radio and private couriers to shuffle around thumb drives.
Hobo?
They’ve probably not looking for truck bombs much more than they are looking for Allah Akubar.
If you want to overwhelm their system for what they are looking for, use the words “Patriot” and “Freedom”.
Although I don’t know what good it’ll do to try. I’m sure their $60 billion dollar computer system can handle the traffic.
Dating back the 1930s at least. Still in use.
Hobo Signs
Hobo Signs were originally created in the 30’s so that people ridin the rails could communicate. Over the years some people have stopped using them, but you can still find them if you look. The best places to find these are on the exit ramps of small towns scratched into the post, outside of abandoned buildings, squat houses, and occasionally you will find them outside churches. Especially the ones with kitchens. Every know and then you will see these symbols written on the mailboxes or houses in really small towns located next to the railway. These symbols will vary slightly from place to place, and from artist to artist. If you know the basic symbols they are pretty easy to translate no matter where you are. Most of these symbols can still be found all across the U.S. and some of them are used in Europe as well.

We are in 1984 - only worse.
The computers definitely can, but LEOs can’t go investigate them all.
Do you think they’ll be intelligent enough to do that? I mean, it is a government agency and all...
Okay, now I just have to see Barbara Billingsly speaking Hobo :)
“Patriots” are an NFL franchise from Boston.
“Freedom” is a minor-league baseball team in Kentucky.
NSA computers must be spending an awful lot of time scanning sports blogs.
Anything to do with a Jewish, Catholic Saint?
Another thing is just using as much cash as you can for day to day purchases. Pull it out of the bank for day to day expenditures. Things like gas, groceries, cloths, eating out, etc. If you buy a book use cash and they don't know what you are reading. If you go some where pay in cash and they won't know your where abouts.
>>Do you think theyll be intelligent enough to do that? I mean, it is a government agency and all...
Probably not - they take the easiest way out because the government has become a corpulent, listless, tax-sucker.
