A religious order isn't anything like a denomination, and Franciscans don't necessarily think that Benedictines "got it wrong," only that they "got it differently". Both of them are Catholic and teach the same things, but their emphasis and way of life are different. I believe it was St Augustine who said, "Unity in essentials, diversity in non-essentials, charity in all things."

Obligatory Mormon reference: Brigham Young said that the penalty for interracial marriage was "Death on the spot" *and* said that this doctrine could never change. Today interracial Mormon couples can have their marriages "sealed" in the Temple.

(And some Protestant denoms don't necessarily think that other Protestant denoms "got it wrong," only that they "got it differently.")

Certainly MANY Protestants would say the same thing about other Protestant denominations.

If I were an SLC Mormon; I'd think long and hard about THIS quote from their #2 Living Prophet:

"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;

and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,

and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.
