Was going to go to wally world to check for more ammo but came back home after hitching up the buggy and nelly. I made it to my next door neighbor's house about twelve miles down the dirt road but my neighbor was gone, so I turned around and came back home. My neighbor only goes out to go to wally world and buy up all the ammo. Knew it would be fruitless to go after seeing my neighbor was gone and had beat me there. I'll have to trade my neighbor a terrorist for some ammo later this P.M., so nelly and the buggy are ready when have to move the terrorist as barter material.

Sorry about your migraine. Tell the story when you’re feeling better, dear.

I just learned something vitally, fiscally important, though it has taken about three episodes for it to sink in. Maybe even four.

I learned never, ever again to try and take my second dose of herbal pills within two hours after a meal. If I’m going to take them, my stomach needs to be empty. It doesn’t do me much good to buy the pills, take them after I have eaten, only to lose them almost instantaneously.

(Sorry, folks. I’m here to share the bad with the good.)

I thought maybe it was just the migraine, but I don’t recall having a migraine the last few times it happened.

(This could be expensive...)

Thanks. It may lose something during the time, so I will relate it now, while lightning bolts are still a relative topic.

When my sister and I were growing up, we lived in a small town that boasted a large race track, complete with stalls for all the visiting horses and room for the rigs that brought them. As luck would have it, our house was on the north end of the track, across the street, and if we went upstairs and sat on the bay window roof, we could see the horses as they came around the turn to the home stretch.

We also had a “secret entrance” under a fence and through a small culvert that opened into the back of a short row of stalls, so we never missed any races. Or any rodeos, either, since the arena was a quarter mile beyond the track complex.

If we went in the main personnel gate, it was a rather (for that time) elaborate labrynth of passages that ended under the grandstand.

Since we spent so much time at the track (lots of jockeys kept their horses there during training) we knew every inch of the acreage.

One summer morning, my sister wanted to go to the track, and I wanted to tag along. She was 10, I think, so I was nine. She didn’t want to drag me along with her. For some reason, I KNEW I had to go with her. And finally our mother told her to take me.

She hot-footed it out of the house, hoping to leave me in her dust, but even then, I was almost as tall as she was, and could keep up with her. She griped at me the entire time. I didn’t care. I was on a mission. I HAD to be with her. Period.

The morning was a little cloudy, but not bad, and the sun hadn’t risen above the mountains to the east, though it was close to 7:00 am.

As we neared the ticket booth, she had managed to get about three feet ahead of me, and I panicked so I said something (I don’t recall what) to make her angry. By then we were headed into the labrynth, and all I knew was that I had to stop her.

She turned around and began to berate me for being a tag-along and as she was speaking, a bolt of lighting 4” across hit the ground where she would have been if she hadn’t turned. That bolt pulsed forever, it seemed, growing thick and thin with sparks coming off it in all directions, and at the same time, the clap of thunder hit.

Until a few years ago, she never knew that bolt struck where she would have been, had I not been with her. She never saw it, though she did hear it.

At that point, I said, “I’m going home.” My job was done, although I had no clue that I even HAD a “job.”

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I like Nully. He knows the value of chocolate. Especially dark, expensive chocolate that can’t be shipped to Vegas in the summer...

Just because of the lightning show we had last night. Being up on the southeast bench of the valley, we get the deluge but it all runs downhill.

Last night’s show was spectacular, but moreso this morning when I watched the local news and saw what had missed us.

I now have more laundry. This is not turning out to be a very good day, for some reason. I may be better off just going to bed, but I don’t want to, yet.
