TIGHAR is able to share details of our search for a conclusive answer to the Earhart mystery thanks to the international agreement signed in Washington, DC on March 20, 2012. The Republic of Kiribati, the sovereign nation of which Nikumaroro is a part, has granted TIGHAR the exclusive right to conduct research, search, and recovery operations related to the Earhart disappearance within the national borders of Kiribati. No one is authorized to undertake Earhart related search, recovery of artifacts or research within the boundaries of Kiribati (including Nikumaroro) without authorization from both the government of Kiribati and TIGHAR.

Well, for one thing, Clinton herself is something of an Earhart aficionado. She said that when she was growing up in Illinois her mother was an Earhart fan and filled her ears with stories of the aviatrixs derring-do. I find that a bit more credible than her claim to have been named after Sir Edmund Hillary, of Mount Everest fame. LOL!
As for your link, we know the Doofus on the Dime was worthless. But it's still unexplained why he would have wanted this case covered up. Your link's rationale is too elaborate.
I wish Gillespie good luck. But I'm not contributing!

You don't have any military experience, do You?
May I presume you're very young?

From what I have put together, one of the wings of Amelia Earhart's Lockheed Electra 10E, N16020 can be found 5 or 6 miles west of the Mili Atoll.
If my friends are correct, it's not very deep, and it's in a bed of tall sea weed.

You don't have any military experience, do You? So, they were following orders, were they?
The cover-up must have been in support of some larger objective. What was it? What was FDR covering up?
Why wasn't Amelia Earhart the cherry on top of the case against the Empire of Japan? She was a popular celebrity, well known at the time. It would have required no explanation to the low-information crowd.
This case should be closed. This should all be part of some National Park Service exhibit somewhere in the far-flung islands.

Following orders?
The GIs were.
But Amelia? She was probably intrigued by the possibility of being a major player in the WWII effort.
Or she could have been working a deal with the government to cut the cost of expenses.
Who knows?
But there are enough witnesses to end most questions about what happened.
The public at the time didn't even know or suspect the Japanese capturing Amelia and Fred Noonan.
Roosevelt would have been ashamed to admit to using a woman to spy on the Japanese, let alone trying to use her as a whip against the Empire of Japan.
The public was different then, and not feminized like today.
The public wanted to win, and was full speed ahead on attacking and destroying our enemy, unlike todays' cowards in the media.
But I wouldn't put it past the media or the Democrats to try to use the issue as a diversion from their failures and criminal activities today.

There's a lot of distance between Mili Atoll(left and left-center) and Gardner Island (now Nikumaroro).
Check the map below (lower center and left).
I believe the crash was west of Mili Atoll.

To those without a sense of curiosity or history, it makes no difference.Speaking of curiosity ... and history ... I curiously await your reply to the history provided by Yosemitest in many posts at the end of the thread.

I found the youtube interesting as well. I have no opinion which (if either) theory is correct. I posted the TIGHAR information because I had not seen the latest article on FR, and there are a number of history/aviation buffs on FR.
I also find it interesting that the article caused some on FR consternation. Some posters here assume that the person that posts information and/or articles is somehow endorsing the information. In this case, nothing could be further from the truth. Until there is some tangible physical evidence, the jury is out. Until then, both organizations are just panhandling for money.

NASA wrote me back and said there would not be any women astronauts. And I was just crestfallen, she said in her speechLet's see the letter.
Almost certainly a lie.

Love the photos, Joe. I had to look VERY carefully because I figured it was one of your wonderful, funny photoshopped specials. Looks like it’s a straight photo (this time!!).
Love the one of Amelia walking in front of the Electra
