Cajun, I’ve seen that before.....often these malware detectors will hit on a jpeg with a active link embedded. just like FR does for their “click to donate” pictures. You can set the detector to ignore it if it bugs you, which is what I did when the issue came up. It’s more or less a nuisance trip and not really a danger.

There are certain site’s brierbart being one that if you link to them, you will get what looks like a Microsoft virus alert...IT IS NOT...it is a virus...Hold you off button for 8 seconds, shut down your computer and when you restart it, do not it let you “Restore” your internet session.

So then you don’t know whay file it may have been associated with?

No, but another Freeper seems to have found it.
See post 31.

I didn't think to try and trace it out, was more concerned about getting it totally out of my machine.

I have Windows 8 which uses Windows Defender which is basically the same as MSE. While I was reading this Windows Defender alerted me to a “Trojan:Win32Jpgiframe.A on this page.

Trojan:Win32/Jpgiframe.A is detection for JPG and GIF image files that contain IFrames in HTML web pages that execute arbitrary code. In the wild, this trojan has been known to redirect users to Web sites containing malicious content.

What browser are you using?

Firefox for example will prefetch links from the page you are on.
The amount of prefetching depends on your settings and what accelerators you have installed.

It could be set to prefetch the first link, or all links on the page.

What browser are you using?

Explorer 8, Win XP Pro OS.

First hit I ever got with Security Essentials, been running it for a long time.

Always recheck with Malwarebytes once a month and will also run Kaspersky tdsskiller at the same time.

I believe there is a fake “Microsoft Security Essentials” (MSE) window that some sort of malware opens after you go to an infected site, not necessarily the particular site you have open.

I had MSE on my Win7 laptop but when I migrated to a Win8 tower it came with Windows Defender (WD), not MSE, yet I would still get messages supposedly from MSE, which was not on my system. I just close the fake MSE window and check WD and perhaps do a quick scan and nothing has actually turned up as a virus infection...yet.

Hit start, type MRT in search box and run "full scan".

This was not a fake popup. It was an indication on the taskbar that a threat had been found, that action is being taken, then finally that everything was ok. Brought up MSE, and looked in the history box, and it indicated the item it found.

I use Comodo for Firewall (have had it for years) and it seems to be good at detecting bad things. I also use Norton 360 and it is very good, from my experience. No detections anywhere on FR, my FRiend. Maybe it has to do with you being one of them ‘Hot Tabascoans’? :)

Well I'm done, either they believe what we saw or they don't.

This is not normal for FR to have a Trojan running around.

Time will tell.

Do you have google web accelerator, or any other addons installed?

If you did not click on that link, there is some program on you computer that prefetched that page when you visited the main page.
