Just an update. I had to give up the family home since Mom had a reverse mortgage and she owed a huge balance. I know we made bad financial decisions but I can’t keep the house anyhoo on what I make. I did get an apartment for rent in Eastern Ohio in the same town as my gradeschool buddy and his wife, we are best friends. House was up for sherrif’s sale this month but got pushed back to January. It is me and my two cats in the apartment, one of them, Spunky, she is 14, she’s sleeping next to me. I do have a better car, Mom’s 2004 Hyundai Sonata with low mileage. I work in a department store in a mall west of Pittsburgh, it is the same place that holds a Thanksgiving parade in New York. I moved up to part time technically but I get full time hours. The commute is long, 92 miles round trip, but I might move closer when my lease is up next summer. Still miss Mom though, it will be a year on November 18th. B-( However I’ll have Thanksgiving at my buddy’s and Christmas with Dad and my Stepmother. I can stay with them if the snow gets too bad too.
Thanks for the update. Sorry about the house being sold. I’m not in the best situation myself and may be forced to sell my house. But I know other people who’ve had to make the same change - moving from house to apartment - and everything turned out all right. I hope everything works out for you, too. In fact, it sounds like everything is working out for you. :-)
You’ll always miss your mom. I lost my dad several years ago, and I miss him every day. In time, the heartache dulls a little bit, though. I focus now on the good memories of my dad. I’ve also found that it’s helpful to pray at night.
