The Tim Tebow era is over in New York.

The Jets have released Tebow, the New York Post is reporting.

Tebow was widely expected to be on the way out for months, and the only surprise is that the Jets waited until now to do it. The arrival of rookie quarterback Geno Smith in the second round of the NFL draft may have been what it took for the Jets to decide that there was simply no room for Tebow on the roster anymor

From where I sat, the OT touchdown was a defensive breakdown, the karma for which came back to Denver jut before regulation ended in the playoff game vs the Ravens.

Well, two of the biggest homo supporters in the NFL are gone too. That one linebacker on the Ravens was released and Scott Fujita retired.

Do your job and don't be a distraction.

Unfortunately, I think Tebow is going to be a career backup. Many top college QB's - especially running first QB's - can't make the big jump. Other's take years to reach their prime (Rich Gannon, Randall Cunningham).

About the only place where I can see Tebow impacting ticket sales in in Jacksonville. And unless the Jags are willing to sign him then I really think Tebow needs to be looking at what to do with his life outside of football.

I think he could have a good impact on sales in Canada. Not as much on seat sales as licensed goods and increased visibility to the league.

I am not....don’t you recall a few months ago the GM of the Jags dissing Tebow at a press conference? He said emphatically that he couldn’t imagine a scenario where TT would join the team.

Hatred of outspoken Christians is welcome in the culture today.

I believe the media hatred of Tebow stems from his faith...Kurt Warner of the Rams-Cardinals faced the same.

So Elway hated Tim Tebow so bad, the guy who had just resurrected his season and gave him a playoff win and the money that comes with it, that he sabotaged his career by sending him to New York. Oh boy.

No, Elway knew that Tebow didn’t have the skills to be a long term NFL starter. So he traded him and acquired one of the best QBs ever as his replacement.

Sorry, but I hope you’re not comparing Tim Tebow to Peyton Manning. One playoff win aside, there just is no comparison.

If you go back and look at it, the Broncos got off to a worse start with Manning than Tebow. The offensive line was allowing Manning to be sacked as often as the much quicker and more powerful Tebow the previous season. Where Tebow would still win games, Manning was losing. I believe Denver coaches then realized they had an offensive line issue. Changes were made, pass protection dramatically improved and the Broncos went on a streak.

Let Tebow not be sacked in a game and he'll win.

Let any halfway decent NFL caliber quarterback “not get sacked in a game” and he’ll win.

that’s apparently his issue, though, teams are interested in him if he would be willing to give up him pipedream about being an NFL QB.

Yup, he makes it pretty clear he won't be satisfied with a backup position. Nothing worse than a backup who is endlessly bitter he isn't starting. Teams know Tebow doesn't have the mechanics to build a franchise around him, but if he'd be willing to be a 2nd/3rd string QB who can maybe play TE in some packages he could have value.

Which, of course, even if true, has absolutely zero bearing on Tebow’s travails as a football player.

You cannot cut Tebow, and keep Sanchez and claim it is a football decision, especially if you watched the 2012 season.

Yep. In the first 5 games of 2012, Manning went down about 3 times per game and the Broncos were 2-3. The Broncos then went on a multi-game win streak where the offensive line didn't allow a single sack.

IIRC, Tebow went down about 3x per game as a Bronco. Sacking Tebow is much more difficult than sacking Manning which should tell coaches that Tebow was under much heavier rush than Manning. Had the offensive line protected Tebow better, he would have put up better numbers.

NFL teams don’t give a crap about his “outspoken Christianity.” Do you ever watch football? Murderer Ray Lewis is an “outspoken Christian.” EVErYONE is an outspoken Christian in the NFL.

Exactly. It's all about winning in the NFL, and players are judged on whether they can add value and help win trophies.

A player could be an outspoken follower of the great cockroach God and teams wouldn't care so long as he added value to the team.

This has nothing to do with his Christianity. Tebow simply doesn't add enough value to sign at this time.

Not an option? Don’t be so quick to count it out. The Alouettes could very well sell the rights. The Roughriders might be in the market. And the field in the CFL is much wider, ten yards longer, and the backfield can all be in motion at the snap, so the potential would be greater for a qb who’s more comfortable with a lot of moving parts, and who’s got the legs to get out of the pocket. It may or may not work for Tebow, but it’s worth a shot.

“like what did they get out of it?” Revenue by filling seats, merchandise sales..to name a few. Are you serious?

Lot's of mediocre players have a good run, it doesn't mean they aren't still mediocre players.

Denver knew Tebow wasn't the answer at QB even while he was on his winning streak. His mechanic's are terrible and he isn't the kind of player a team can build a franchise around. It's as simple as that. Tebow is a good guy and a winning personality, but he isn't likely to ever be a starting QB in the NFL. If he could be truly happy with a backup/utility role, someone might sign him.

The Jests signed him to take the public’s eye of the serious malfunctioning of the rest of the team. After that, they didn’t even manage to use him correctly for that.
