IMO, COPS should not need to be wearing seat belts UNLESS there is high speed or danger involved. (OK, cops and prior cops, wade in here with your comments).

If I were a cop and I had to get out of that car a quickly as possible I too, would NOT be wearing a seat belt. With all the pouches, magazines, radio, gun and other trappings hooked on me, the last thing I need is any of it caught on the seat belt, thereby restricting me to the car.

Sorry but I take the cops side on this one. On the issue of the officer slapping the guys camera, that is assault, a BIG NO! NO!

So if they are T-boned at the intersection on the way to chicken licken and are ejected from the vehicle on their head, causing brain damage, will the city/county be responsible for their injuries and decades of treatment?

Really? Because they might have to get out of the car quickly?

Why would the 2 seconds needed to unbuckle their belt be a problem, I mean unless there’s a sale at the doughnut shop?

Try an IBA with its integrated pouches and your M-4 in Iraqganastan where, yes, you still have to wear a seat-belt in your humvee.
Sorry, but I disagree; if we make soldiers buckle up in active combat zones, then the police should not be afforded any leniency in the matter.

Da Ho will get away with it. Count on it.

As to cops and seatbelts, in Texas the Highway Patrol seems to always use them, but then again they don’t try to equip up like some damn hardware store.
