Coincidentally, I wouldn’t want to live in any of them.

And its red blood that defends every one of those blue cities.

Why?

Let them burn.

OK, raise your hand if you ever paid $16.29 for a haircut (or $8.37, or whatever with cents in the fee)!

Following is a look at each of the 10 most expensive cities in the United States.

Orange County, Calif. is a county, not a city.

You can live cheaply in Manhattan if you put your mind to it. There is a lot of competition for your business, you just have to look around.

NYC has its pluses, but overall its a dirty aging city with lots of ‘rats’, both above ground in public office, and below ground in the subways and basements. If it wasn’t for the food grown in the kinds of places often scoffed at by liberal New Yorkers, one of the biggest attractions of NYC - its restaurants - wouldn’t exist. Unless I considered it ‘extra money/throw away money’ I would never spend a ton of money to buy a place in NYC. Why would I do that, when I could buy a significant amount of land with the same money somewhere else?

I’m still surprised that Harlingen, Texas is rated the most affordable place to live. I guess it is its isolation. It is about as far from anything in Texas as you can get. But, being close to the beach, it is a pretty clean city with lots to do. It is just cheap.

New York, California, Massachusetts, and DC. Three Democrat-controlled states roaring toward the cliff to financial oblivion, and the DC basket-case. Taxes and housing prices are primary reasons for the expensiveness of the three states, and Democratic policies are the primary reasons for the taxes and housing prices.

This is basically a list of the worst state and local governments in the US.

As a contrast to these high cost of living areas, I'm about to make some of you cry. A friend of mine has this house for sale in Marshall, Texas (very Normal Rockwell in NE Texas near Louisiana). He was just transferred to Terrell. Completely remodeled and updated.

Asking price, $169K Click the photo for more pictures.

A few years ago, I considered applying for a job in Jackson Hole, Wyo., but was stunned when I learned about its sky-high cost of living, since costs seemed so reasonable in places like Laramie. However, I was told that Jackson Hole, where a lot of glitterati apparently make their home, “is not like the rest of Wyoming.”

By the way, Orange County only has that average high cost of living because of the Newport beach - Laguna areas. It’s a diverse county and has places that are reasonable, with access to plenty of places to save money.

It makes no sense to have the whole county in a list on par with manhattan. You can’t find a reasonable area of manhattan but you can get a reasonable (for SoCal) home in many many parts of Orange County. There are places to shop to get by on less.

No sweat, no plans for any of 'em.

Well, maybe to wave and have an extra bit of gratitude when driving (quickly) by that I'm not stuck 'there' !
