Her “talent” is mediocre at best, but she is a genius at marketing. That she can make people think she is anything but putrid is beyond amazing.

My son in law to be, says the Beatles.

The Beatles says your son-in-law-to-be is the most over-rated musician? Huh?

Beatles? What band would you consider underrated?

Poor old Johnny Ray....

I liked her in Ruthless People.

I can't believe how much you and I think alike. I also liked her in Drowning Mono.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned U2 yet.

U2? Sounds like a Soviet warplane

Bruce Springsteen
And Ricky Minor, the pretend bandleader on Tonight Show for a while. All he ever played was “Star Eyes” and improvisations of the melody of that one crappy tune!

Although I can’t stand Letterman, the lowlife.....the bandleader on the show, Paul Shaffer, can actually play music, great music; and can launch into ANY tune at the drop of a baton!

Thank goodness I’m not the only one who does not like Bob Dylan.

His voice is awful and it grates on me.

Wow...is that a lady or guy? Very creepy!

IT kind of reminds me of “Pat” from SNL from several years ago. You just never know! ;-)

Two highly underrated performers that come to mind immediately:

Warren Zevon

Steppenwolfe

The question refers to singers, not musicians. There’s a harpist playing in the San Antonio Symphony that couldn’t find her G-string if her life depended on it, but I wouldn’t include her in this list.

I lived at the Jersey shore while Springsteen was a raising “star” Been to the Stoned Pony many times. The place was a dump, and I’m convinced mostly girls loved Springsteen and the guys just went along with the farce that he had real talent trying to get laid.

To this day I have to turn him off whenever he’s on the radio.

People’s tastes are so undiscerning nowadays. I mean, Sinatra overrated? Johnny Ray, Beatles, Rolling Stones? Do these folks love Elvis singing “My Way”, as I suspect? Loving Pat Boone destroying “Ain’t That a Shame” because of his politically correct politics? Judy Garland’s kitschy, syrupy “Over the Rainbow”? I have seen on this forum posters praising as musical geniuses Liberace and Eddie Van Hellem.

And who ever heard of Willy DeVille, of Marshall Crenshaw, of Marti Jones and Don Dixon?

Have you seen the "Live at Ronnie Scotts" album/disc/DVD? Taste is taste....but IMHO he is about the greatest guitarist ever. No accounting for taste, however.
