On Wednesday, Star Trek Into Darkness composer Michael Giacchino posted multiple video clips while recording the films score.
The Oscar-winning composer returned to score J.J. Abrams second Star Trek film after having worked on such films as John Carter, Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, Super 8, and Up.

Since much film music has it’s roots in classical music, you might be interested.
Film music might just be the best music being composed today.

In the second clip, see those chairs? They're made by
Wenger. I have one in the other room.
Nice to see someone still using a full orchestra, instead of just doing it on computer.

I thought that he had won the Oscar for Up, and I was right. I am not a big fan of animation (my hubby and youngest are big fans -- Hubby especially liking Pixar); but, I found Up to be actually moving, the way I haven't been emotionally involved in a film for a long time.

Thanks for the ping. I love movie music.
My favorite is Maurice Jarre, composer of “Lawrence of Arabia” and Dr. Zhivago.
In both of those he used a full symphony orchestra, supplemented with various ethnic instruments appropriate for the movie.
