Then why arent the Irish ever referred to with that slur? They were in the early 1900s. Atleast here in the northeast.

Can you find a single reference in print? I’ve lived in the northeast almost my entire life and never heard it and I’ve been around awhile. I’m also if Irish descent and never heard a relative mention it.

I grew up in the NYC area in the 50s and 60s and heard every derogatory, ethnic slur there ever was. Not once was WOP ever used to describe the Irish.
If anything, they were called Micks which really was harmless considering what blacks, Italians and Jews were called.
