Omaha police displayed an unbridled street gang brazenness when they chased a man who was video recording them abusing his brother into a private home, confiscating his phone and arresting him to ensure their actions would never see the light of day.
However, another citizen captured the entire incident on video from a second-floor window, ensuring at least the façade of an internal investigation.

Interesting that the newly arrived cops knew exactly which house to go into.
BFL
So did I.But I learned.
3 times I have experienced the fear of being in the presence of a rogue cop - and incredibly relieved to walk away without being harmed.
I know many of them are good people, but I have developed a large amount of distrust.
Going to work one day (when I had a job), just rolling down the expressway with all the other traffic...
When all of a sudden everyone starts slamming on their brakes.
Some idiot motorcycle-cops doing radar on THE EXPRESSWAY. So naturally everyone slams on their brakes.
I had to stop in the median. Got a few tickets.
Talk about rogue cop, both arms full of tats. Complete 100% certified-guaranteed asshole. Most revenue collectors are, seems to me.
there is no “bottom”
this is standard operating procedure. the civilians vs cops. no inbetween.
It is also very hard to get rid of a truly bad cop who is in tight with the union.
I had one such pointed out to me by the brother of an officer on his force. The other cops knew he was rotten, doing drugs, unpredictably violent, and that nobody, even other cops, should ever be alone with him. They also knew that the union would not permit him to be disciplined at all.
The union even had his death reclassified as “In the line of duty”, though he was off duty, DUI and carrying narcotics, and had illegal weapons in his car when he crashed it into a building and died. Why? Because he had no relatives, and his insurance had the union as his beneficiary. Lots of money they wouldn’t get if that other stuff was official.
I really don’t know if our local union is the same as large metro areas (small rural area)
But when you’re in the presence of someone who truly appears to be enjoying your powerlessness....that is terrifying.
I’ve seen that happen too.
Bumping and adding keyword, “callinghenrybowman,” to thread.
Maybe in the future we’ll all be wearing Google glasses and Photoshop suits. We’ll have a recording of everything, and won’t be able to trust any of it.
Don’t shed a tear when police complain they are “outgunned”. We should have a right to ANY armament they can possess.
I imagine that such individuals, and “toxic departments” evolve over years. Of course individuals can “go off” any time, but I suspect that when a whole police department goes bad, it begins with bad morale.
Conversely, if their morale improves, they misbehave far less. A great example of improvement was when Rudy Giuliani too over as mayor of New York. At the time the police had scandal after scandal, corruption was bad, and morale was low.
The police already liked him, but he made it clear that they were “his boys”, and they were now going to operate in a way that works, no more wasting their time.
All the police problems just stopped. Morale jumped, and the cops were happy to do what obviously worked, and made them look good.
Great vid. Wish the shooter had a steadier camera with telephoto. I notice that the usual apologists haven’t shown up for the thread. Pretty unusual. Must be some kind of feral holiday or something.
I often hear “It’s just a few rotten apples, most of the police are OK” which reminds me of the officer that gave another officer a speeding ticket who was not only ostracized by every other cop in her department, she felt heat from the police from surrounding jurisdictions. She sued, and won (South Florida area).
It’s a good thing a real crime wasn’t in progress.
This the very reason people don’t trust the cops anymore. They have become gangs with badges.
Actually the Omaha PD is more than 20% understrength,it also has had 4 Chiefs in 5 years going for 5 in 6 years. It has a white police union,a black police union,a latino officers assoc. & a LBGT support group. The members of the white & Black unions don’t really trust each other.
Cops won't pick on anyone when they are outnumbered. As the video shows, they like at least ten to one odds in their favor before they get up the courage (and turn off their brains) to pummel these folks. That's another reason they want to ban assault weapons...they don't want a fair fight.
