This is pretty disturbing.
I, personally, have dealt with anxiety and panic attacks, or PTSD (because of a lot of family trauma). This guy is clearly exhibiting the symptoms. Do I know his situation? No. Do I believe in waterboarding of terrorists trying to destroy our country? Absolutely. So, let's get THAT out of the way.
I will expect to get flamed. That's OK. PTSD is a misunderstood condition.
Been through a lot in my life. Getting stronger every day! :-) Can't imagine what a soldier may go though.

You don't even know what side that is do you? ;-)
Sorry for my delayed response. I had to go look up the difference between mace and pepper spray.
There is none. According to the internet.
I have an idea.
Well, that simply isn’t true. Pepper spray is just that, a spray made from the oleoresin capsaicin derived from peppers. Mace is a synthetically derived chemical concoction that is much harder to withstand and has potential health risks to it.
An idea you are apparently embarrassed to share.
The results are the same. Look it up.
Since the guy was restrained..would it make much difference?
Not for me.
Good evening.
>>Mace is not pepper spray and pepper spray is not mace
Mace is a brand name. Originally it was a petroleum based spray. Now it uses OC pepper.
There a a variety of OC pepper spray strengths, both in potency and volume of spray released, on the market.
“Pepper spray is pepper spray” is as accurate as saying “a bullet is a bullet”. Unmitigated, uniformed, nonsense.
The story does not offer any justification of fitting him with the spit mask, which leaves prolonging the pain of the OC pepper as the only reason I can think of. That is not torture, exactly how?
You keep talking about getting a chile seed stuck in your eye. I have to imagine it takes an extra level of stupidity to pull that off.
“I live in Maine, and there is very little violent crime here.”
I know that...I think you guys are actually the lowest in the country, with Vermont next. I just borrow that line from the movie Beverly Hills Cop and apply everywhere for kicks - usually it’s to other countries that like to lecture us about our “gun culture”.
That which is done to “criminals” today will be done to “conservatives”, “Christians” and “Freepers” tomorrow.
Those who defend this should mentally picture themselves, their spouses, their children in the victim’s place.
When you desensitize people to torture, they are far less likely to have moral scruples about torturing women, children, and the innocent.
The officers way out of bounds. This guy may have been deranged but the authorities only exacerbated it. Scary stuff.
Not half the stupidity it took to make that post, chief.
They got him calmed down in less than 15 minutes, prevented him from injuring himself again and got him to agree to see the mental health counselor.
So why was he suspended for 30 days?
“He” being Officer Welch.
That is like asking “if Clinton was guilty of denying Paula Jones her civil rights why wasn’t he charged?”
