NFL owners have passed a player safety rule barring ball carriers from using the crown of their helmets to make contact with a defender in the open field.
Several coaches and team executives expressed concern about officiating the new rule, but Commissioner Roger Goodell championed it and it passed Wednesday as the owners meetings concluded.

This last season, In response to the Detroit Lions losing a game in Houston because the Lions’ coach through a challenge flag on a long run. The refs actually would have called the play back, but since the coach through the flag, they couldn’t. The play stood and the game was over.
Next will come baseball...Pitchers won’t be allowed to throw pitches over 45mph...Balls and bats will be required to be Nerf material...Spikes will be changed to ballerina slippers....
Anyone know where Rugby is televised? Oh well there is still NCAA and High School Footbal.
Jumpig and running will be outlawed in basketball..Only trotting to be allowed...
It doesn’t matter, it’s not about the fans. Fans will still attend games, TV ratings will continue to be very high.
I honestly don’t know how exactly a RB is suppose to do this. They will have to run upright and allow the defender to tackle them, which will probably result in more injuries.
When will Ball Carriers have to Slide?
Football was a lot better before the lawyers took over.
Jim Brown never led with his helmet, if he could do it so can everybody else.
Yet another stupid rule to slow the came down.

Yup, that saved the Texan’s a$$ all right. Except the game was played in Detroit. :)
Really? No riots?
You know it.
Yep, you can still lead with your shoulder. My way of slowing the number of concussions would be to take away the cages on the front of the helmets. You get one bar like George Blanda or Fred Biletnikoff.
another rule that doesn't apply equally to the O and D sides of the ball is the face mask penalty. If a defender brushes the face mask of the ball carrier its a penalty. If the ball carrier stiff arms the defenders face mask, no penalty.
The coming lawsuits from older NFL players w/head injuries.
It’s all about the $$$$$$’s
Maybe helmets and pads for ping pong players next?
Football tomorrow.
