“Who effing cares? If it bothers you so much just post the link to youtube as a comment and be done with it.”
It bothers me when somebody keeps using FR to generate hits to irrelevant websites with the obvious intent to make money for themselves.
A lot of people are trying to keep this place running with donations. They are not doing that so people can pimp their blogs or clog up bandwidth directing freepers to their personal pay per click sites.
Hammond B-3?
I agree with your sentiments completely.
By the way, this is an awesome (and free) piece of software to stop trackers. Added it a couple of years ago.
It’s quick and easy to download - - less than a minute? - - and I have noticed no effect on my internet speed.
Thanks
I don't care what bothers you. If you have a problem take it to the mods.
For brilliance, reference the original recording- on which the guitar was played by an uncredited (nobody did back then on albums) Eric Clapton (without gyrations and considerably more taste and tone— the guitar actually weeps and it isn’t crocodile tears).
In all humble opinion. Do like prince’s writing (manic monday, 1999, Little Red Corvette— all good tunes).
Love Johnny Smith- tone timing taste and something else, kindness. And not forget Joe Pass, who abandoned playing with a pick to play with bare fingers— incomparable.
Got no problem with prince as a writer. And none at all with Winwood or Petty (used to see Mudcrutch back home). Really though- for real players the idea is not “hey look at me” but what serves the song.
So,for enjoyment here, submitted for your approval from the early 60-70’s rock era— and one from 1989:
1.)The Atlanta Rhythm Section (JR Cobb, Buddy Buie, Paul Goddard Ronnie Hammond)....prior known as the Classics IV (backing Dennis Yost). It doesn’t have to be “shredding or searing”. Melody. Tone. Taste.
“Champagne Jam”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChonhV6r5XM
2.) Live, Little Feat (right off the plane LA to London) who ratchet it up all the way to the end, with incredible internal rhythms. Slide guitar par excellence.
“Two degrees in BeBop a Phd in Swing he’s a natural rhythm he’s a rocknroll king....”
“RocknRoll Doctor”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEOlTZGuLKM
3.) Finally, Steve Ray Vaughan Live 1989
Seriously flat out blues man who died way young and loved to play. It flowed through him.

Jeff Lynne does a much better job than Prince on lead and with out the stupid stage theatrics. I’m sorry but Prince’s work is simply repetitive and a pale imitation of the Hendrix meme he’s been trying to make work for decades. He’s adequate, IMHO.
Thanks
Agreed. I was just telling my wife that he is probably one of the greatest guitarists of our age, but has never been widely acclaimed as such. Probably because he is such a nut.
Oh well, at least he can say he did it his way.
Prince is weird, but he is a showman and an incredible talent. He has a very seductive quality that draws you in.
I still think his Super Bowl halftime show was the best one in many years!
I noticed that too. Maybe he is his kid.
ping for later
Seeing Dhani there on stage while this song plays was eerie -- he looks so much like his father, it was almost as if George's ghost had sat in on the session.
Thanks.
Great link...Champagne Jam...is outstanding.
And on the right side....ARS...”Spooky”......much happiness there...;)
Why do you hate free enterprise and individuals with websites. That link has no crapware laden spy material. You seem to only promote big government and big business.
Yes he is a good guitarist. Always thought that side of him was overlooked. Top 1%? Uh no.
Prince is in the top 1% of guitarists. Magical...a nut mind you...but magical.
Agree. His Super Bowl Show a few years ago was brilliant.
Not the hip shaking, flood the stage with dancers, just pure song and sizzling
music.
