After a lifetime of being a Republican, I'm leaving the GOP and registering as a Democrat. Why? I've tried to change the GOP from within, wiht little luck, so I figure it's time I help to change the Democrat Party from within....
The hard part of the task is keeping your ego in check.
You can’t give yourself away but you must stay steadfast in your core beliefs.
If 007 came swooping in, the Libs would let the sharks with freakin lasers loose on him immediately.
Conversely, George Smiley would hardly be noticed.
If enough Republicans did that, we’d have it made. Blacks have to vote for the Democrat. If he is more conservative than the Republican, we win.
The good news is you’ll be able to register and vote as many times as you want.
Reagan was that rarest of people that not only got into the camp, but got the dems all comfortable before speaking forthright.
He gained their faith and spoke to the truth inside.
He did not go in waving his arms about and shouting, but he never compromised either.
It is an art. It is a balancing act.
The stage is ripe for us to usurp them.
An excellent point. Our primary presidential process (due to RINO influences) and probably many states primary processes are infiltrated by democRAT operatives. You have a plan. I agree with Dick Bachert, if entering, safety has to be a paramount precaution. Dick is correct in his assessment.
I would say go for it. It's rather liberating; I did so before this last election. (I would not, under any circumstances, vote for Romney -- as I firmly believe[d] that he was [politically] identical to Obama.) I wound up voting for Gary Johnson, the Libertarian nominee, who was my State's former governor and did such a good job in executive office that he got re-elected in a solidly Democrat state and left with a budget surplus.
I am Conservative through and through, but why let them pigeon hole you?
Or, worse yet, why let them tell you you're not conservative if you don't toe the Republican line and vote McCain, Romney, Jeb Bush [?], or whatever other statist they nominate?
Keep the opposition guessing. That is a valid tactic.
Conversely, it weakens Conservative polling numbers
Sun Tzu -- When you are strong, appear weak; when you are weak appear strong.
PS Oh, and liberal chicks are easy.
LOL
I’m with you.
After the last election and seeing the total incompetence of the Republican Party to campaign, nominate a decent candidate, govern when they had the opportunity , inability to garner public support even on issues that could be a slam dunk, I am going to divest myself of the Repub party.
Just look at how our ‘top dogs’, Boehner and McConnell are handling Benghazi, and sequestering.
Two slam dunk issues, esp. sequestering.
They’ve let Beezle get on top of the issue, blame the repubs and HE’S the one that proposed it in the first place.
They let Hillary bowl them over in the Benghazi hearings. No one will fall in that either.
Beyond incompetence, inept, or any other word I can think of.
.. but the thing is-- and part of this article comports well with what I remember -- these are
"liberals fighting to reclaim their party's true heritage -- before they decamped to the GOP in the 1980s.
"Indeed, the credo of the new Democratic hawks is eerily reminiscent of the neocons of the 1970s, who ran a full-page ad in the New York Times called 'Come Home, Democrats' after George McGovern's crushing defeat, in a play on his campaign slogan 'Come Home, America.' In it, early neocons such as Jeane Kirkpatrick and Norman Podhoretz called for a return to the principles of -- you guessed it -- Truman and President Kennedy.
"They lamented the fact that their party had been taken over by the forces backing McGovern's run for the presidency in 1972 and wanted to purge the party of the McGovernites."
.. and there's this which surprised me (if it is true!): "Just as the old neocons wanted to expel the McGovernites, so the new ones want to rid the party of the Moveon.org types and move it to the right."
Of course the old neocons who wanted to expel the McGovernites (back in the 1970s) gave up and fled to the Republican Party.
The article ends with advice for the few real Democrats remaining in today's Party:
"if they are to revamp the party, they will have to do a lot more than simply evoke the ghost of Truman and Co."
“Sun Tzu — When you are strong, appear weak; when you are weak appear strong.”
“mylife — liberal chicks are easy.”
Sums it up pretty well LOL
Hillary bowled no one over.
Obama owned her ***
Truth be told I almost feel sorry for Hillary.
Obama has been punking her and using her this entire time.
He puts her in as SOS and takes away any power she has, THEN when his balls are in a vice, he makes her responsible.
Hillary is done.
I must concur with you. A Conservative joining the Democratic Party and trying to reform it from within is about as hopeless as a Pro-Lifer going to work, as a janitor, at an abortion clinic, and trying to reform it.
If it were possible for one to attain a high-ranking position within the Democratic Party - without losing one's soul - then one might possibly be able (in a small way) to become an advocate for moral decency on some non-core issues, to moderate its tone, and to curb its worst excesses. Perhaps one could even acquire a reputation as a decent, level-headed Democratic Party functionary, and be held up (by others seeking to profit unfairly from it) as an example of someone of character within the Party.
But you might as well try jumping in bed with a flea-ridden dog, with the intent of helping the dog to free itself of fleas.
Regards,
Sometimes I think it’s all a game of “good cop, bad cop” and all the players are smoking cigars and drinking cognac in the back room having a larf about what rubes we are.
And, I'm so ticked off at the Republicans, I re-registered as an Independent, and told all the cell-phone callers begging for more money to stop calling.
Both my Senators from this Solidly Republican State are going to vote for Hagel, so, after 40 years I'm D...U...N...Done!!!!
You know, I’ve been thinking of the same thing.
Dang, how did you figure that out? A great LOL moment here. Thank You!
Join the Constitution Party or even the LiberalTarians before joining DNC
Unless you are minority or gay...the DNC is not going to listen to you
You are aware that there are folks that have worked in the abortion industry who are blowing whistles aren’t you?
Its a nasty business, and my heart bleeds for the person that gets the bona fides to be heard.
There are people behind the lines that are exposing the left.
I get an occasional moment of clarity when I am not busy eating Pizza and playing Xbox LOL
You’d have a better chance at success by being devoured by jackals and changing them from the inside.
say good bye to your family and friends now, because after they install the implant you’ll never talk to them again
