So what are all of these people prepping for?
Well, the truth is that no two preppers have the exact same motivation. There is a general consensus among preppers that our world is becoming increasingly unstable, but when you sit down and talk with them you find out that there are a whole host of different civilization-killing events that various preppers are concerned about. Some are preparing for the collapse of the economy. Others are extremely concerned about the potential for crippling natural disasters andcatastrophic earth changes. To other preppers, the rise of the Big Brother surveillance grid that is being constructed all around us is the greatest danger, and many of them warn of the tyrannical agenda of the New World Order. Terrorism, killer pandemics, EMP attacks, World War III, martial law, solar megastorms, asteroid strikes and societal chaos are some of the other things that many preppers are worried about. There are even some preppers that are not worried about any threats at all they just want to get back to the land and want to become less dependent on the system.
Whatever the motivation, it is undeniable that the prepper movement has gotten very large and that it continues to grow.

I guess I need to bottle some water too...but there's a creek behind the property.
And rice and beans...I need plenty of both...got some but not enough.
Not poking fun...just a beginner getting started.
Not solely a prepper site, but I would think Backwoodshome.com would have made the top 50.
From one of the top sites, that I check frequently. Overwhelming amount of info, but has a handy “getting started” guide: (still a pretty large amount of info!)

Can keep self, cats, and neighbors alive for about 6-12 months.
That's enough time for us all to evolve.
God Bless America and Our Constitution.
And F*ck those who wish to destroy us and our Constitution...
And F*ck this President who swore his oath to defend our Constitution and then set about to destroy it.
F*ck you Barack Obama...FUBO.
Hope you like it in Hell...
While I commend people who prepare for troubles in today’s America, I question the cost/benefit ratio.
Watching some of the “preppers” series on TV, I see that many of them are living in desolate areas where I would not be to begin with. Their vast stores of food and supplies may be unavailable or unmovable when needed. If they must take flight, how much can they carry?
I did my prepping by taking flight. I left the USSA.
While I live in a third world country, I do not have to worry about food, water, or even money.
I live on a beach where fish is plentiful, and I am surrounded by edible plants and fruits, and I certainly do not need heat to survive.
Civil strife could be a possibility, but I am only minutes from isolated mountain areas.
While it takes more warning time, I think everyone should be prepared to leave the country.
Consider destinations, means of transportation, and make sure you have a passport.
Central and South America are becoming real popular with expats, but their are many other options.
To bone up, one might check out expat sites online.
Two big ones: www.internationalliving.com and www.escapefromamerica.com
I already know about you who say that they will stay and fight, but keep in mind, half of the US population seems to be quite satisfied with living in a developing Communist state. They are either moving in, or breeding like rabbits.
I haven’t checked out many sites lately, as I am pretty much already prepared, stockpiled and self sufficient out at ‘the gulch’... But here are a couple of places I’ve found things worth knowing, that aren’t on the list:
