“Whats a “tony” steakhouse?”

“tony” is a pretty outdated term for high or upper class.
I have not heard it used in many years.
“Tony” means if you don’t pay up, a guy named Tony will be out to reason with you.
(I can make that joke; I’m half Italian).
tony= any place that would look askance as the likes of yours truly entered the premises. No riffraff allowed.
The word ‘tony’ is outdated? Who knew? I better drop it from my lexicon.
