I think it is a regional thing. Everyone from around here says “aunt” rhymes with taunt. Now some of my friends from the coasts, and some from the south say “ant”.

Next one—who pronounces the “t” in “often”? I mean besides my husband. But he doesn’t do it all the time. LOL.

Not to be confused with folks who also pronounce the “F” in “Nuts” when describing Obammy :-)

You are right. Hereabouts, “aunt” rhymes with “post.”

I sorta like that last girl who did Johnny Cash. And Ms. Cottoncandy-hair was right about her.

Something similar was an important part of a L&O:CI episode IIRC.

Count me in on pronouncing the T. Also pronounce the R in forward, have noticed more people , Hannity for example, who leavevit out....

That's what I was thinking too.

And in answer to your survey, I pronounce "often" with a silent T :) Like coffin. Unless I'm around people (who I'm not related to), then I'll make an effort to say "often". But the word "often" doesn't come up very often ....

I'm making myself dizzy :)
