Tebow cant thread a pass like that. And Manning has EXCELLENT mechanics, hes got the shortest snap to throw time in the league. His biggest problem has been not enough coaching and too much predictability. Thats what so regularly kills him in the playoffs, when coaching counts most a player thats allowed to be his own coach loses. Thats how The Saints beat him, they jumped his favorite route.
The one that got exposed in todays game was Champ Bailey. Whos never been consistent, often a very good player but believes his own press too much. He got beat for 2 or 3 TDs, thats the game.
His mechanics have always been somewhat suspect
He has shortest snap to throw time because of the way plays are designed for him...not because of his mechanics. When he is rushed...he has Happy Feet, and does not plant them before the throw
Yes Tebow could have made that throw that Manning tossed for a pick. That was a weak throw by Manning, so weak that it caught air and lofted a little....a pass only 12-15 yds downfield. A QB in a midget league could make that throw
No he has the shortest snap to throw time because his mechanics are excellent, and he’s read the defense and knows where he’s throwing to. Really, it’s not just me, Peyton’s mechanics are probably the best in the game: http://collegescout.wordpress.com/2009/01/29/the-importance-of-throwing-mechanics/
He does get happy feet when rushed, but of course he almost never gets rushed. And a big part of his happy feet is because he’s one of the slowest runners in the game, the guy can’t scramble. I remember him getting caught from behind by the Steelers nose tackle. If you couldn’t outrun a nose tackle you’d get happy feet when the pocket is getting tight too.
Tebow spent 11 games last season MISSING that throw, and much much easier throws. If he could make that throw he’d be a starting QB somewhere, not rejected by 3 teams. The big problem was the receiver cut behind the defender, he gave the defender superior position, had he cut in front as is his job it would have been a reception. Peyton probably should have looked in front of his receiver more, but it was a catchable ball.
