Thank you for transporting me to another plane. Have you ever heard Maria Gallicurci? I looked her up while playing this in the background and, apparently, mine is not the correct spelling. Anyway, a very kind woman who was the mother of one of my childhood friends played a recording for me and the magnificence of her (Galli-Curci’s) voice was astonishing. This was also the woman who taught me to sew, knit, cook a few wonderful dishes, and took care of customizing my clothing needs because I looked so “neglected.” I have so much to be thankful for, and I extend my thanks to you!

Returned, with Pat, safely. Although there’s snow on the trees and grass, the roads are all clear, and of course there was hardly any traffic. Temperature is down to 31, so the snow on the grass shouldn’t melt overnight. It will look pretty in the morning.

You didn’t finish high school and I’m very happy to receive your literature recommendations. Wow! That should tell you something!

I sang it in choir in the 6th grade, as a duet with my best friend. That was in Rhode Island, 1977-78: incredible snow!

I haven’t given up coffee. I just got the flu awhile ago and weaned off it. Furthermore, when I started back on it, it gave me no extra energy.

Sorry I wasn’t around to bat back the badinage. It’s been a busy day for me.

Some of what I tried to do resulted in a net accomplishment, so I guess I earned my coffee ration.

Tomorrow will be another challenge. I’ll start it with coffee.

Gee! Badinage sounds like badminton. I was pretty bad at it. Am certain that anything you do results in net accomplishment. GB and goodnight!

Good night and sweet dreams, y'all!

That’s a coyote.

Exactly.

Coy O Tay. We has 'em.

I was thinnin' that ifn I found one dead of a (lead induced) heart attack, I could dress it up 'n send it ofn to the White Hut seeins' as a Coy O Tay is just another kinda dog...

Even found him an American recipe. He can tell us if it's better than the Indokeynesian way...

Coyote Soup

Coyote Hind quarter
cooking oil
2 cups red wine
3 onions, chopped
1 garlic clove
salt and pepper
spices
2 cabbage heads, chopped
8 potates, chopped

Cut meat into chunks and brown in oil. Add wine, onions, garlic, salt and pepper and your other favorite spices. Cook for 30 minutes. Add cabbage and potatoes. Cook until tender. Serve with hot biscuits or corn bread.

Makes a hearty meal out on the open range...

Coy Otay Buckwheat Stew

Ingredients:

1 coyote hind quarter (4 pounds), boned and cubed

2 medium onions, chopped

2 celery stalks, sliced

1/2 cup olive oil

3 cups buckwheat groats (roasted)

1 cup dry white wine (optional)

8-9 cups water

Salt & pepper to taste

Preparation:

In a large pot (I prefer a wide pot to a deep one) brown the coyote in hot oil, sauté the onions and celery in the olive oil until the onions start to soften (3-4 minutes).

Lower the flame, and cook for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Add the buckwheat and mix it in. Add the water, salt, and pepper, and bring to a boil. Lower the flame and let it cook for about 45 minutes until the liquid is absorbed and the buckwheat is soft. Add the wine when most of the water has been absorbed.

Serves: 4-5

Whoops, I’ve been forgetting you when I ping the kitteh. I really should save that list, instead of typing it afresh from my early morning brain early each morning.

Good morning. My weather-beeber says it’s 22, and the snow (about 1-1/2”) does look pretty. Sun is up, clear skies, James is up, and the forecast is 40s in the afternoon, so we’ll have fields of mud. Happy February!

Mexicans do not care for snow. Hopefully by noon, it will be sufficiently obvious that it’s safe to drive, or my choir will be me and the Puerto Rican lady who used to live in Ohio!

Wow. Thank you so much for re-remembering me vis a vis the morning lolcat post! I didn’t consider myself as having significant enough gravitas to bring it up, since I’ve been scarce on the UT lately, but those cute critters really do brighten my day, and I look forward to them, and that you would take time out to not only send me the daily Kitteh once again but to send a separate note along is yet another textbook example of why FReepers rock.

Drove the family and some friends to Chinatown in Yokohama today. We didn’t know until we got there that the area was celebrating the Chinese New Year, and by the time we had completed our shopping, the block where I had parked my car was next on the route for the dragon dance pageantry, and we nearly got trapped by crowd control officials.

Our friends were actually visiting from North Carolina, and I pointed out to them the supreme irony of their having flown all the way to Japan only to end up in Chinatown in Yokohama.

We finished the day with some ribeyes, garlic shrimp and salmon fillets done on the grill. There are worse fates, truly. :)

Thanks again for the Ping and the note.

Am sorry to hear you have had the flu. This has been a year, and it is only begun, to see flu and other illnesses in measures not be wished upon anyone. Am glad you have not given up coffee completely. Giving up coffee would be like giving up squirrels.

Don't worry everyone, what I typed yesterday was not funny. I will not bore everyone with another boring, unfunny day.

May I get a thank you or should I RUN FOR THE HILLS?
