I don’t know what to say. They can’t figure out my age when I just sit down in front of them. It’s the strangest thing, and I can’t explain it.

I’m in my 50’s and people who first meet me think I am in my 30’s. And that does not play to my advantage. I am not a kid! I’m an old guy, and I know what songs your Momma liked!

FYI: I still don’t look my age. And when I have GOOD days, I don’t feel it, either.

Mostly, folks guess me 13-25 years younger, but I have the mileage to prove that’s not the case! LOL!

I married a man 20 years my senior (the late Igor) and he was, in his own way, a talented musician. He would play a game with me: He would play a few notes (or a bar or two) on the organ/piano, and think he had stumped me. I knew every song, word for word, and could recall things that he figured I was too young to remember.

All this is to say: He was an educated idiot, and I, who didn’t finish high school, beat him at chess. The story behind that is pathetically funny, but I will relate it if you ask.

And with that, I’m taking my silly self to bed. The Stig has been singing all day, but he just recently gave it up. And for now, so will I.

Later! :o])

Over four hundred years ago, the son of my most distant, traceable ancestor left “London” to go fellowship with the Quakers who had been forced by threats of The Crown to abide among the “Terrorists.”

Just a little jaunt from A to B...

Mary had a little lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
She got thrown out for bringing livestock.

It scares me because he’s smart.

Relate, I can...

Had a cat (she lived to be 24) that liked things with buttons. Like phones. Clock radios. Computer keyboards. Telephone answering machines... (before caller ID and voice mail from the TelCo...) And removing the catnip from catnip mice leaving only a empty hunk of cloth that was shaped not entirely unlike a mouse..

It was particularly enjoyable for her if the buttons she pressed had an associated noise that rewarded her efforts. She would change the time the clock radio was set for and turn it on and off because pressing those buttons (or more exactly, walking on them) produced a bleep tone with every press.. Had to buy a clock radio that took two hands to set, and had slide switches to turn on and off.

Had a phone answering machine that doubled as a speaker phone. She found all sorts of things she could do with that.. Stepping on the keypad would take it off hook (with that rewarding dial tone) and stepping on more buttons produced the associated touchtones, also rewarding. And then after being off hook for a while it would start talking to her.. 'We're sorry we cannot complete the call as dialed. Etc. and then it would start beeping... She thought that was great. Another feature of this box was that you could record a message - like 'Don't forget to do your homework' or 'clean your room' or 'the braised broccoli is in the fridge' if you were out and the kids got home before you. Cat found out that some button on that wondrous box would get her the message 'Begin recording message after... etc When finished press pound.. ' and then the record tape would run (another pleasing sound..) She would stick her face in the machine and purr.. (tape shut off after two minutes..)

She also enjoyed helping you type on the computer. Walking across the keyboard while you were writing something was always a crowdpleaser. But she most enjoyed computing when you were not there. If she hopped up on the desk and laid down on/ walked across/ stood on the keyboard eventually the keyboard buffer would fill at which time the machine would commence beeping. Repeatedly. She loved that. If you happened to have a text editor of some type open, you would find the screen filled with page (after page after page) of nonsense.. I'm probably more surprised she didn't figure out how to double click the mouse. If she had who knows what fun things she could have found...

Good morning. The front just hit here. I think stupid Jake is out. Beeber says it’s 41, so at least it’s not ice.

Haven’t looked outside yet ... afraid of seeing little space rocks falling.

Heard within the past hour or so ... your area is predicted to have frozen space rocks falling and possible making the ground turn a color of white. Heard the same for back this way. Those frozen space rocks are not to be trifled with. I would prefer wet. The outside air will cool down quickly with wet falling. May the roads to Monroe remain open.

Oops. It’s my first day without coffee, after several weeks of reducing the amount. Hopefully I won’t be a dope the entire day!

It’s light now. Temperature has dropped, snow falling as well as rain. Ugh.
