I kind of understood when they cut Danny Woodhead, as I recall, it was simply a numbers game for the Jets at the time.
Every team runs into that issue eventually, where they can’t hold on to everyone and they have to let a promising player go.
Wes Welker and Danny Woodhead are two good examples of players who didn’t have combine stats (height, weight, speed, etc) so they had trouble catching on.
I remember when the Patriots got Welker, I thought “Thank God. Now we don’t have to play against him anymore...” He might not have done great against anyone else, but for a couple of years, he made me grit my teeth whenever the Patriots and Dolphins played.
I distinctly remember muttering in a fit of frustration “Jeeez...will SOMEONE take his head off, or something...” He absolutely killed the Pats.
I love having Woodhead on the team...he isn’t Kevin Faulk, but he’s got gumption, and talent. I sure hope they find a way to re-sign him for next year...
Final score in Chick-fil-A Bowl: Clemson 25 LSU 24. The SEC won't go 9-0 in bowl games.
Even though the touchdown never officially happened, the excessive celebration did really happen, which resulted in the penalty being called.
Pioli should be going out the door with Crennel.
If not before Crennel.
I think when young Hunt is negotiating for a coach the option of a new GM is available. We may have that change by the time a new coach has accepted.
From your lips to God’s ears....Twenty-five years a Chiefs fan and to be here, now, with the organization in shambles has been a heartbreaker.
I went to their first game in KC after they moved from Texas. I went to the infamous Christmas Day six quarter game over forty years ago. I used to take eight club level seats each game in the Marty years.
I haven’t been to a game in three years. To top it off I am now living in Phoenix and their team is in the dumps racing us for the first draft pick in a year when the Q. B. picks are nothing.
I hope the Lamar’s son gets the fire in his belly to turn this around.
In 12 years the Buffalo Bills have had one winning season at (9-7) two seasons at (8-8). The rest of them have not been any better than (6-10) of which one which was (3-13).
Jerry Jones may be a meddling fool but he at least is interested enough in the team to get involved. The Cowboys have had 5 seasons at or below (6-10) three seasons of (10-6) or better and two each of (8-8) and (9-7) over the same 12 year period.
Had the Buffalo Bills had a record like the Cowboys over the same period, the waiting period for season tickets would be years... not the time it takes to run your credit card.
Romo is spokesman for a new product line:
Further, the Buffalo Bills were 93-131(41.5%) while Dallas was 112-112 (50%)
Dikta doesn’t like the Smith firing, Bears players don’t, ESPN sportsnation voters outside of Illinois don’t.
Bears fans do. He had his positives, plenty of them, but he’s proven he cannot handle offense at all.
Rex Ryan and Jason Garrett should have been canned as well.
The Cowgirls GM should also fire himself.
Louisville absolutely embarrassed Florida. Looks like the SEC isn't all it's cracked up to be, does it?
I’m going to wrap all the football pings up in this here ping-ping.
I start with: Edwin Jackson
Very nice Haiku, Impy.
Smith firing: Depends on who they hire. I suspect they’ll go all out to hire the OC of the Broncos. I can see either Lovie or Whisenhunt going to Buffalo as HC. Whatevs.
“Rex Ryan and Jason Garrett should have been canned as well.”
Hmmm...I suppose. I couldn’t give a sh*t about either franchise, so again, whatevs.
“The Cowgirls GM should also fire himself, then commit suicide via ritualistic seppuku.”
Yes! Years ago. But Jerr-bear likes being a clown, both on TV and in real life.
I have boiled the NFL down to three teams:
NFC: SEA
AFC: NE, DEN
The rest is static and noise.
And you heard it here first: In years to come, the greatest QB of all time will be RUSSELL WILSON...he will surpass Joe “Tony” Montana as the best of all time.

I am absolutely mortified..Gator nation is in shock, mourning today...Gator QB is NOT a passer...
Gator defense wasn't either. The game wasn't nearly as close as the score indicated.
You got me liking the idea of Arians (coach of the year?). The Bears have asked to talk to him, he’s free to do so now that his team is done. He missed the game with the flu.
An irrelevant locale like Buffalo is perfect for Lovie, I’m shocked they passed on him.
As for the Jets and Cowboys, I rather enjoy their suffering. Especially the Cowboys, America’s team, says who? Jerry Jones is a Republican but I still don’t like him.
Did you see, Rex Ryan was spotted on the beach and he has a tat of his wife TEBOWING (maybe) while wearing a Mark Sanchez jersey! A clown as well as a cuckold, how can his men respect him? I mean really once you know a guy likes to watch other men do his wife, that’s really it.
A shame Ponder was injured or else Green Bay would be finished. Oh well, your Niners will take care of them.
(I’m pinging DJ even though this is a sports topic; it also has gossip in it)
Arians should get coach of the year hands down...although a case could be made for Pete Carroll. But it’s Arian’s to lose.
Buffalo would be perfect for Lovie...a REAL shocker that they didn’t scoop him (or Norvbert) up.
“Jerry Jones is a Republican...” Is he? IIRC, he was a Clinton supporter (AR). Well, if he is GOP, then I dislike him less. But he’s still a clown.
“Cowboys, Americas team” Maybe 35 years ago. Maybe.
I think Rex Ryan is a fag - a homosexual. WTF? That thing with his wife and the tat? GAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! The Italian word for cockold is cornudo and it fits Fag Hag Rex to a “T”.
RE: Ponder. Joe Webb set QB-ing back, oh, 40 years. Wow, he’s...not good at all.
I think SF-GB is going to be a close game; could go either way. I still stand by my prediction that SEA will win the NFC.
I think Jones is Republican. He’s given money to Republicans and he was practically making out with Bush at the playoff game the Cowboys won a few years ago.
Joe Webb must have taken lessons from Caleb Hanie. The Vikings may as well have forfeited.
Jerr-Bear is still a bitch, GOP or not.
“Joe Webb must have taken lessons from Caleb Hanie. The Vikings may as well have forfeited.”
WTF! What an embarrassment. Go fetch Joe Kapp out of retirement for God’s sake.
